Default Photoshop basic question - layers

I'll go check the FAQs on this again as well (didn't see it first run through and can't seem to figure it out).

I have two photoshop files, each with multiple layers.

How can I copy just one layer from file one and move it into file two?

OK think I found it, duplicate layer and have a different source.

I've got it across on the other doc, but it's coming across teeny tiny.

Dave,

You can also drag and drop the layer from the first file to the second file. Just click on the layer and drag it over to the canvas of the second file.

Another tip is if you want to drap multiple layers, just lock the layers that you want to group together and do the same thing.

Hope this helps.

Got it over, just trying to figure out how to make it bigger now. It's a border frame that was formerly on a 8 1/2 x 14 now on a 8x10 and is showing up like an inch big

check resolutions of the two files. to remain the same size, both files must be the same resolution.

when copy / pasting from a file with resolution 72 pixels per inch to a file with resolution set at 300 pixels per inch, it will appear much much smaller.

apple T or ctnl t will allow you to resize it. To maintain original size, hold down shift while resizing.

Another way to add layers to become one is by using stamp.
Make a selection on the image you want copied over, then simply stamp on the other file. To move it around, select the image you want by using lasso tool, then transform, apple t or cntl t then move using your mouse or if you want it gradually use arrow keys. Any image being covered by this method will be eliminated.

Or layer it then save it as a jpeg, it'll compress it to a ingle layer.

I'd do the second one for unimportant stuff. But the first one is for more precise stuff.
