So i Was driving up to my brothers for thanksgiving. I was 2 hours away when I was going up a steep graded hill. My cars RPMs all of a sudden shot up past 5 grand and I lost power. My check engine light came along with the Check VSC. I drove it back down the hill into town and plugged it into a scan tool. A MAF code P0102 popped up along withO2 sensor codes p0051 and p0031. I cleaned the MAF and cleaned out the throttle bottle, nothing. I then went to a junkyard and bought a used Denso OEM MAF I put in and I think it was a dud. I bought a Duralast brand from AutoZone and put it in, also didn’t work. I tried hard resetting the codes by disconnecting the battery terminal. The MAF code is still stored and the check engine light is still on. I tried erasing the codes with a scan tool but they won’t reset. I don’t want to buy the $150 OEM MAF if it doesn’t need that. The car still drives but it’s performance is gone. Please help me know how to fix this problem. I don’t know what else to do except to take my car in and pay $100 for a diagnosis, which I’m trying to avoid and fix this problem myself. Thanks

I've seen these codes in the Toyota Forum before. The codes are failure of the 02 Sensor. Some have cleaned and run Seafoam and it went away for a while. You likely do need to do a Seafoam treatment and replace the 02 sensor Bank.

Thank you! I watched a video on YouTube and the guy did a sea foam test and the entry point was the hose going to the brake booster. What’s interesting is I also have a brake booster sensor code P0557 pop up on the scan tool. Could that be related? Also the MAF sensor?? How do I know if it’s bad? And how do I know those O2 sensors are bad? The guy at AutoZone told me that because the MAF sensor code popped up that it probably made the O2 sensors pop up because they are on the same circuit?
I would do the Seafoam and or other Intake cleaning 1st. Then replace the correct coded 02 sensors. Forget about all those other codes for now. They are likely being set off by the 1st problem the 02 sensors. Do that then a reset and go from there working on 1 problem at a time.
