Default Suggested winter tire size for stock 18 inch oem wheels

Hello I need some help with a suggestion for winter tires. For my 2006 Lexus is350 this is my first winter with it and the all seasons are not gonna cut it lol. We get heavy snow I looked around for winter tires in the oem staggered setup 225/40/18 and rear 255/40/18.
but barely found any selection and the cheapest I found was 1600 dollars for the set mounted 😵‍💫. Any alternatives?? Thanks

I had the same issue on my 2008 IS350. I ended up buying inexpensive 17” rims and installing Bridgestone Blizzak winter tires. They grip and handle well. It was the cheapest alternative I could find.

Yea dang I ended up going with a square setup 235/45/18 all around with the Viking continental 7 tires. got them put on yesterday. Seems to be doing great 😊

Clever! Have you seen any issue with the cruise control? I’ve heard/read that using tire circumference other than OEM disrupts the speed sensor controls so the speedometer and speed set on the cruise control will be off.
in your case, the overall diameter of the wheels are off by only a few mm so I can’t imagine it’ll be a problem. Just curious.

have only used cruised once or twice since but never noticed anything out of the ordinary. I’m pretty sure it’s 100 percent normal. but wasn’t looking out for anything so I’ll keep an eye out on that next time and test it out 90 percent sure it’s fine tho haha.
