Am having at least one issue with the tune.
Cannot manually shift in S mode when full throttle, it will shift automatically when it reaches around 7.0k .
Normal manual shifting is possible on S, but when 100% throttle, no.
Tech support states I need to upshift then downshift to enable the feature. I tried it and did not work.
You already know who am dealing at RR-Racing, nothing against him, but the company marketing practice is BS.
He states I bought a tune, not a device, and he dares to ask me, where does it say the device has to be new at the moment of sale?? - -
His logic is, tune was uploaded is somewhat working, so what does it matter if the device is used or new...
*What!?* seriously?
nothing against him, this is not personal, is about customer service and delivering the goods as promised. C'mmon, I have to now make sure when buying the headers that they do not arrive used, because, nowhere does it say NIB... right?!
I have the 7200rpm tune and 1st shifts at or right before 6800, 2nd usually at 7k then 3rd 7-7200. At times at full throttle at 6500 rpm and up, it shows 59-65% throttle opening. This is with traction control off and in manual sport+ mode.
I'm hoping there may be in the future a reflash/tuning thread we can compare tunes and data....

I believe you have a 3rd gen car, whereas the original post refers to a 2nd gen IS350, which is a totally different tranny and tranny control.
On 3rd gen cars, sometimes shift points need to be tweaked on a car-by-car basis. This applies to tunes that auto shift at redline in manual and auto shift modes.
If you flash back to stock. You will notice that stock mapping actually shifts at various RPMs, often well short of the stock redline.

Thank you, that explains it. I actually have a 4GS. There is more action here than in the 4GS section in regards to performance.....

If you want us to tweak the auto shift RPM points a bit, message me and I’ll be happy to do it. Just need to know which rpm it’s currently shifting in for each gear.

Nice (this is how other sellers ship)
* * * *
Not Nice (this is how you would ship)
It was inspected, right? before shipping
First impressions do count!
I need to know if the tune will work with the headers.
Lets be clear, I have been IM to delete this thread and also harassed that if I open a claim for the NOT new Mygenius, RR will cancel all of my orders.
So far no other customer has received the package in the same condition as mine. Or maybe I should rephrase, how many of you have received the tune/device sealed, without been "checked" by RR racing staff?

Grizz, you're not going to get anywhere. This pond's too small, and they're the only one fishing it. What's worse is if he gets his way and whines to the right admin and any negative press such as this gets swept under the rug, so as to not affect his bottom line, despite the fact that he's really not good at dealing with customer issues. Like...the worst I've ever seen still be in business in such a small market.
Without the ability to clean up complaints on here, he'da moved onto another venture by now, but you're all still forking over the money, so...
I would reach out to him a few days later, somehow he forgot, or if he remembered, all of a sudden the classic excuse...
"Our records shown, or after checking with engineering, or your specific ECM is not compatible with the tune."
I posted my discontent on the forums and the president, I think, stepped in explaining all what Simon had done and helped. As soon as I saw that, I knew the company was half caked and decided not to go ahead with the supercharger.
Let me see how I word this, so it does not look so obvious, Once the tune is accepted by the ECM and you give them the code, there is no money back/ no refund...
When I set the tune, he did not know half the stuff he was telling me (did not make sense, easter egging), I figure it out on my own how to make it work. He then brags stating that he provided support, negative, all he did make sure any excuse possible as to not give money back, once he gets the ECM code, is done deal.
I have the 2is, I did notice improvement in performance, and manual mode only works if I have the Power mode enabled.
From what I have heard the early version 2is are the ECMs who take the tune well, once past 2010 or so, it is hit or miss.

Someone else would not have spent all the time helping you diagnose what was wrong/different with your car. Lexus IS (not ISF) TCUs work differently from model to model. Sometimes, the transmission is programmed differently on cars with the same model year. Some transmissions work in manual mode with traction off, others require to downshift first before they start shifting manually, and yet others can only be "locked" to require the use of paddle shifters under WOT. In addition, there is a lot of confusion between drivers that have different expectations and misdiagnose what is happening. So, it takes a lot of time to help some customers determine the optimum solution for their car. We take a lot of time with every customer trying to figure out every case. The hardest cases come to Rafi and me. We also posted a technical blog addressing these issues: http://blog.rr-racing.com/news/categ...gement-tuning/. We have an article and FAQs addressing the question that was raised in this thread.
We stand behind our tunes. If there is a problem with a tune, we work very hard to fix the tune and correct the issue.

The above text was sent by Simon. I was later hsrassed to remove the CL thread because according to them I was posting false feedback about the company, more really?
The company is not so streamlined and above and beyond as the RR rep is trying to present. When I complained about open box packaging it was justified I was buying a new tune, not a MyGenius... seriously?
The box arrived ripped, torn, nothing wrapped
*justified by them they did testing, yeah right?
Package it like it should be, don't be cheap.
I do not buy their excuses, this was a returned item, or a loaner MyGenius finally sold to me.
Below are pictures how other Youtubers receive their RR-Racing tune and device.
this is what I expect when paying $500 for the device and tune, yes... nowhere on the site it specifies the device can be a used item, and what is been purchased is a tune.
Mine arrived a printer copy thrown in the box, not wrapped, I did not even get a shirt, NOT EVEN STICKERS!!!
images are screenshots from a youtuber who did an open box of his NIB tune and NEW DEVICE.
After much argument, they did not even make things right not even at least sending me a shirt, or provide partial refund. Then after waiting 8 weeks I received scratched up headers.
Spent $950 or so (discount from buying the tune and headers), the tune was $500
And HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY EMAILS, TEXTS OR CALLS FROM RR-RACING HOW DID THE HEADERS ARRIVE, HOW WAS THE INSTALL,
(ZERO COMMUNICATION)
this company took my money and moved on. I am now dealing directly with PPE Engineering as RR-Racing is useless.
We did not make a mistake, nor did we ship anything used. Every single box we send out gets opened because we have to remove every single device from its box and initialize it prior to shipment.
There was absolutely nothing wrong with the device and it was 100% new. Maybe the mygenius box it came in was slightly damaged, but that sometimes happens as these tuners are shipped to us in bulk from Italy, and sometimes the boxes get compressed a bit depending on how it was handled in transit.
Rafi
Just explain how is it all Youtubers show the item sealed NIB?
If the item is inspected, then repackage it, and send like all other customers have received theirs.
Is it too much to ask? and if you do not make it right, provide partial refund.
Is the item sealed, NIB like all the samples I have provided from other customers? No, it is not.
Did the item worked like it is explained on the site? NO
Now is a laundry list of scenarios where this car this, and this ecu that, such model, vehicle spec... but all that fancy wording is not in your site.
Item description in RR-Racing site states the following: But no, the above did not happen, it was the typical run-around, let me see this, lets do that, as it is done to others (it is a skilled deviation tactic)... Am still waiting for the promised "other" tunes to try/test out to see if it worked.
Oh wait, the company needs to consult and waiting for engineering to respond... (or you mean lets buy time and hopefully the problem will magically disappear)

For anyone reading this thread, I thought I'd drop my unsolicited .02 cents.
I have eye-balled this tune (2is 350 RWD) since it first came out and you literally had to mail in your ECU. RR-Racing found a way around that roadblock buy supplying the programing interface to the user. Fast forward many years and I decided to order the tune. I had a few questions, so I called RR and, wait for it, I spoke with a an actual human being that answered all my questions which I'm sure they get daily. The tune was sitting in my cart as I got my questions answered. As soon as I hung up, I placed my order. It arrived quickly. The box was a little beat up, and yes, it appeared to have been opened. No stickers or shirt, but I wasn't expecting that - maybe that was a promotional or sale thing. I followed the instructions which were obviously printed on a desktop printer, and I was able to get the tune installed. Do I care that the MyGenius was opened; no. Do I care if there were fingerprints, no, because I'm sure I put plenty of my own on there. Long story short, once you get the tune installed, you will probably never use the device again anyway. If the tune didn't work, just call and let them make things right. Airing your dirty laundy on the internet; especially where RR hase a great reputation, doesn't make you look good and probably won't help you with RR in getting your problem resolved. There is always a chance that your ECU has a fluke. I'm sure you aren't the first and probably won't be the last, but please don't say they were lying to you when 99% of the time thats what they see. What you claim to be a delay tactic, I see as customer support who wants to find the root of the problem so it doesn't happen agian. Rafi and his team aren't Amazon or a major manufacturer. They dedicate themselves to making performance parts when no one else will. Give them some slack as well as the opportunity to make it right. You did buy a Tune, so if you flash your ECU and the tune worked, you got what you paid for. If there are issues with the tune, let them help you. Don't worry about packaging, and ddon't be so rushed for time. I'm sure RR could easily spend more $$ on making everything look perfect out of the box, but I don't want to spend $30-$50 more for that.
Good luck on getting the problem resolved, but I think you need to let go of your issues with the packaging; thats all.
Oh, and as to the You-Tubers showing a NIB "opening'. I hate to break the news to you. They already opened the box and checked everything over prior to re-sealing everything and starting the video. They also have many takes, so please don't assume their video is really a first time opening of the box. Have you spoken to any other people that ordered a tune besides what you can find on the internet? Well, I'm one, and I can say your expectations may be too high.
I hope your issues get worked out. And hurry up and buy RR's LCA bushings. You won't regret that purchase. Keep in mind they do ship wrapped in bubble wrap, loose in a box. Once installed you forget about how things were shipped......
No, I do not forget once it has been used, and no I do not use it only once (in fact I re-ran the tune last week, checking the device and tune still working as it should).
Yes am one of those consumers that keeps every box from high value items, PS5, XBOX One GOW edition, Nikon DSLR, mobile phone boxes, I have stack of them in a corner of the basement.
In the consumer business perception and first impressions means a lot to me, and more than likely to many others. There is a reason online stores have a Return Items for sale section, others as part of the listing, Open Box Item vs. New, sealed, between them monetary value will be much more for the latter.
Listings of brand new items who specify box is not included, or box is damaged (as in my case) from handling usually are sold for less.
There are listings of empty boxes, some people want that, yes, their item on a mint condition box. Lets not go that far, Game Stop has new sealed games, and then the exact game missing the wrap and the tamper seal... (and lets choose one that has no DLC or special free trial code and both scratch free), they are not sold at the same price, and do not have the same warranty.
By following your consumer line of thinking might as well start selling everything in plastic or paper bags. Or lets do like other countries where beverages are sold in zip lock bags with a straw sticking out of it.
I sold my PS4 a few weeks ago, the dad showed up with his son. One of the things the dad said was, I can tell you take care of your things, EVEN the box looks brand new!
I went to a dealer the other day, saw a CPO, noted a scratch and inquired if they were going to fix it, seller said, if you want new, go buy new.
I spent $500 for a tune AND a brand new device.
RR-Racing is saying I bought a tune, not the device MyGenius.
What is the seller trying to say? the tune is new, but the device is not? or does it mean I need to return the MyGenius? looking at the condition of the box, well, it speaks for itself then. There is no slack in business (this is no non-profit organization, etc), is my hard earned money, I want something new, I buy and pay as a new item and expect nothing less, and that includes warranty which they rarely honor (unless pressured by another entity).
If a piece or card board is not a big deal, then why dozens of videos on opening new sealed items showing the consumer how it will arrive. Lets cut to the chase and edit out the opening of the item, right?
Something that RR-Racing should know by now, new is new sealed item, new box.
No my friend, it is not Aliexpress or Gearbest, it is a transaction from a US company.

We all have our own reasons for being upset regarding something we ordered. That's fine. I have ordered plenty of stuff from Amazon and it arrived as obviously used, but they didn't advertise it (cords wrapped with wire-ties are almost impossible to re-produce as new, no matter how hard they try). I got upset, too, so I can understand where you are coming from. If it helps in the future, what I would have done differently in your case is instead of asking for a $50 refund, I would have asked for a discount on my next purchase. Possibly a % off which would equal ~$50. I have previously worked in manufacturing, and it is easier to reduce a margin of a product than to take a loss on one. I am going to go out on a limb and say they don't mark up those MyGenius devices very much, based on the old price of the tune w/o them. RR has plenty of perfomrmnace parts for our cars. I'm sure there is something else you could use. Ask for a small discount, you never know wthat they will say. Remember they are small business and dedicate a lot of time and effort into modding our cars. Hiccups happen.
Remember they are small business and dedicate a lot of time and effort into modding our cars.
Then they should, I dunno, accept and offer help to members of the community when they reach out to them.
Like, I dunno, a member of this community who ports and polishes heads as a hobby reaching out to them and getting nothing but insults in return. I'm most likely now to melt down my Lexus V6 heads because Subaru H-4 vendors openly work with the public...I never intended to make money on cylinder heads, but ReeRee here is the sole reason why I won't be bothering with *GR stuff. I have 2 fewer ports and 4 fewer valves to grind per engine now, too.
This whole "small business" line is just an excuse for them to suck.
