Default Racking My Brain on What Diff to Buy

I have a GS with the Aristo swap and all BPU mods. I dont drift or anything like that but I would like to put the power to both wheels. I prefer the 1.5 way diff for street driving and I want to avoid the clunkiness of the 2 way. Was wondering if any vendors on Clublexus provides a decent deal on a LSD differential or what would you guys suggest. Also, where would be the best place to get all the parts for install as far as seals, etc. Thanks

Check out the OS Giken LSD. It's 1.5 way and considered the best for these cars. I'm running one too. I got it from MAPerformance along with the special fluid. Expensive, but not something to cheap out on. Check out DriftMotion or SupraStore for OEM seals and bearings etc. I got a complete rebuild kit from DriftMotion.

Not sure what kind of diff it is but I like the 3.73 Torsen LSD from the Supra TT. I have it in my car and works great!

That wasn’t cheap either. If I recall it was about $1K just for the unit.

The torsen lsd diff is usually a complete differential swap from an automatic mk4 supra. One could take the torsen lsd part out and do the swap into their OEM diff but that's not usually done. Typically people want big money even for just the torsen part and you would need a rebuild kit and bearings kit making it an expensive option. The thing is, for the GS, it depends on if you have the GS300 or 400/430 and what your goal is whether or not the whole unit is a good swap. The GS300 has a 3.92 ring/pinion ratio making it better for acceleration but less top speed in the long run. So doing the swap would bring the acceleration down a little because of the decreased 3.73 ratio. Lord knows the N/A GS300 can't lose any more of it's already weak ability to accelerate lol. The GS400/430 however have a low ratio, somewhere around 3.2xx if I recall. If you wanted lsd and a substantial increase in acceleration, this whole unit would be an excellent swap. There will always be a trade of with gearing between acceleration and speed though, and this goes for fuel economy as well. The higher the ratio, the higher the RPM at all times, thus more fuel sipped per mile. If you want all things the same, just replace the spider gear carrier for an lsd whether you choose a used old Supra torsen or a new clutch type lsd.

Thanks for the info. I have the Aristo trans with the OEM GS300 diff. I certainly would like to increase the acceleration, so the GS430 diff would provide more acceleration and also would the Kaaz 1.5 diff still apply to it?

No it's the opposite. The GS300 diff has the highest ratio at 3.92. This is geared for acceleration. I suspect it helped make up for the lack of power when they designed the car. So you will want to keep your diff and add an LSD to it. The Kaaz would be a fine option if you want. I asked all these questions too before I did mine. Went with OS Giken for their reputation.
