Default 2jzge build questions

I love the sound of na i6 motors, and I plan on a fully built ge doing itbs. So, my questions are-
Whats the compression ratio I need to get more power?
Do I need to fully do the internals to get the most power from it?
What is the most power a ge can make?
Is it possible to make 400hp with a na ge?
i know the car is heavy but I’m not shooting for big hp, just enough to have fun in the canyons.

as high as you can without detonation

Yes

What is the most power a ge can make?
About 300whp

Is it possible to make 400hp with a na ge?
No, not to the wheels, and not in a streetable setup

Then you should have got a V8 car, or you should turbocharge it. Both are substantially cheaper and easier ways to meet that goal.

You're muted by the admins, nobody can read what you post except moderators. I had to go to my computer to read your post, since I couldn't see it on mobile.

But yeah, that's usually the case with these threads. Last year another member was asking about it, but ended up doing a nice turbo build instead, easily far exceeding the potential of an NA car, without even needing to do any internal work.

Brendan Taft's Supra* is one of the only all-out 2JZ-GE builds I've seen from the US, and I think he just barely made 300whp. Sounds amazing doing it, but it's not a practical solution for most people, especially since the GS430 will put down ~270-280whp right off the dealer's lot.

I made the attempt for a short while before going turbo. Injen intake, BC-264 cams, Headers and exhaust, mild weight reduction etc. At that point it was probably making around 225whp instead of just bhp which it is rated at from the engine. Sure made a difference, but nothing close to fast or fun. I'd bet a ton more money and work for internals and ITB's and tuning equipment/tuning would only net another 50ish whp. Not worth it for such low numbers, but with say 272 cams and a full stand alone raising the rpm to maximize the cams and the ITB's, and some race fuel you might get to 300whp. Talking thousands and thousands of dollars though. You might even be better of with an old BMW E34 M-class I6 with the ITB's already on it and a full stand alone with supporting mods. That would be an easier one to take up to 450whp pretty easily from what I've heard. It's just not in the cards for a GE vvti.

but how tough of a swap would that be? Plus I’m sure the engine itself is a pretty penny if it’s the M-class

I think they mean just buy an M5.
At least those came with a manual transmission.
