you mean dual tips? manaray is the only company that has quad pipes for the altezza so far i think. i have seen someone with dual tips too, but not sure what it is
Thanks any way. I have seen twin (tips) on three different is300's and would love to start off hooking my vehicle up by going with twins. Any info any one can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
i do remember seeing some jdm altezza with dual exhausts, if that's what you mean. i think that's what you mean by twin tips. although, i am talking to one of my dad's buddies who own's an exhaust shop, and i do want a dual exhaust, but am very afriad of having my car end up with the rice sound (which is very, very possible when you add that extra piping). i chose the RMM exhaust not because of power (some systems claim 2x as much gain to RMM's 8whp, which isnt shabby i guess), but becuase it sounds really really good, and isn't loud and obnoxious. but i digressed. roughly, this is what i've penned out that could be done. it probably cost close to 100-200 dollars for the piping, and 100-200 for the man hours, if my current exhaust system would not need to be replace. heres what could be done to get a single exhaust, dual tipped (coming out of both ends of the bumper) -
1. remove all the piping after and including the resonator
2. you need to get a flange custom welded onto the exhaust.
3. run piping toward the back of the car that splits (Y) about a foot and a half where the resonator ends (ill get a picture of the underbelly and show you guys what i mean. kinda confusing to talk it out)
4. remove the plastic underneath the rear bumper on the driver side (theres a large patch of it where a 2nd exhaust would fit it, i think lexus said it was to reduce road noise).
5. run the split piping to each side of the car.
6. probably going to have to get a new bumper or have the current one cut and reshaped as to fit the exhaust, which will be pretty expensive if you want it done right.
i'm seriously considering it, but im terrified of how it might sound. with the resonator off, i think it'll be louder and probably a little less restrictive, but really dont want my car to sound ricey. i'll let you guys know what happens.
well i think if it's designed right it shouldn't be that loud. but with the resonator off of course it's going to have more noise. but i think power would be a concern? if you split the piping would it reduce the lower end power?
