Mass air flow sensor
Should I buy one to replace my stock one? Jet has one that fits my 250 and says it add hp torque and even mileage. Does anyone know if this is true and can really add HP?
Thanks
Thanks

The only thing you should do with your sensor is clean it, the maf just reads the incoming air. If it isn't a restriction for my IS350, its not worth buying for your IS250

Help, I have a 2006 IS250 and was told that I need a new mass air flow sensor. I purchased a bottle of CRC Mass Air Flow Cleaner but it's noted on the directions that it is not to be used with the "Karman-Vortex" air flow sensors that many Lexus and Toyota engines have. I cannot tell if my engine has this type or not. How would I identify this?
Also, should I decide to purchase a new one, there are numerous different brands on-line for sale at Rock Auto, etc. Which brand would you recommend purchasing as replacement?
Thanks for the help!

You'd be ok with CRC. Our cars have the hot wire type.
If buying a new one go OEM denso sensor. Rock Auto has them.
Some good info on MAF's

Thanks for the quick reply and excellent information! I feel very confident now in proceeding with first cleaning the sensor and then purchasing a new one if necessary.
Thanks again!
