2007 IS250 mod potential
I have been shopping Lexus over the last few months. I love the way an IS250 looks and unfortunately they are not the fastest cars to say the least.. and before any suggestions about getting an IS350 if I want performance, there are little to no 350s in my price range/area. My question comes down to how likely it would be to get the car into the 6.0-6.5 second 0-60 range with mods. Which intake is best for this? Would muffler/resonator deletes assist in this? Aside from a K & N filter or the previously mentioned, anything else that could make that possible?

the amount of money it would take for that to happen you may as well get a IS350 or shop around for another car as there's no cheap speed for our platform. A better straight line car for the same price range would be a G37. You can definitely make an IS250 handle well but for speed I'd shop around. For me I've stuck to the handling and cosmetics route and I'll shop for an ISF when the time comes.

Yeah I agree with the above posts. Only real world sizable gains the is250 has going for it is in the handling department. If you remotely care about straight line speed look at a different model. If I was buying used, I’d go straight for the ISF if I had to stay within Lexus and sport sedans, especially because the price gap between the IS250/350/F becomes much more in line with what I deem as sensible and a good value / “worth the money” factor

I was thinking the same thing once my wife decided to get a new car (2018 Camary X-SE V6) we have an 08 IS250 6sp that we were not going to trade in and ,I thought well I can swap in a 1jz or 2jz and have a fast straight line car. I got a couple of quotes for the engine swap and fabrication to make the engine work and, were not talking about the wiring and electronics. For the prices I got the swap was not worth it...lol Just the engine alone with wiring harness and transmission was $2,800.00 (2JZ-VVTI). Reality kicked in and with the price of the engine alone, I can do some nice suspension mods and autocross my car and have fun with what I have. If you want a faster car, skip the bolt on parts and save for a faster car. Simple bolt on parts are not going to give you the results you want in an IS250. Too bad the IS350 did not have a 6sp option when we bought the car 10 years ago.

I am actually in the same boat here. I just got a 2008 IS250 and feel it could use a little more on the top end. To be honest I'm almost perfectly happy with it especially from take off. Its pretty quick from a stop, but on the highway merging and passing I really need just 20-40 more hp. There has to be a few affordable mods I could do to just get a little more out of it??
