Well folks, I spent a good 30 minutes tonight trying to collect some new 0-60 data for the forums since the weather and humidity had gone down significantly since my last test results.

Unfortunately, every attempt of trying to launch the car from a dig ends up with the rear tires losing traction at all RPMs while WOT in 1st gear (and this is with 265mm Michelin PSS tires at a lowered 33psi plus a clutch differential). The added torque at low RPMs makes a good launch on street tires extremely difficult, especially with optimal weather.

Without switching to stickier rubber compound (aka drag radials), I'm not sure if I can obtain a good 0-60 sample with my current tire setup.

Edit: After some thoughts about this, I did forget to include that my rear tires are about 50 percent worn (currently at 5/32 tread depth instead of a fresh 9/32 tread depth). When I switch over to new 275 PSS tires later in spring of 2017, I'll give it one last run to see if there's any traction improvement.

I'll update this if anyone is still on the fence about tuning their cars. I have the Orange Virus tune on my lexus with 7400rpm redline and an e30 ethanol tune. I finally got some new sticky tires and so far my average 0-60 is 4.8 seconds with a good amount of torque brake and about 65-70 degree "mexico" nights. I have managed to hit 4.7 once. With 2500rpm of torque brake. My tires are an R compound and the runs were done with cold tires so I'm thinking if I warm then up a bit I can go faster with the right weather. The runs were recorded with torque pro also. The runs were done with ECT with all aids off and S shift mode. Also yesterday I ran into a Focus RS and we were about neck and neck from a low speed pull to about 70 when we hit traffic. So yeah the car is definitely faster. My best pre tune 0-60 was 4.9 with much cooler weather.

Thanks for updating this thread with some new 0-60 times using fresh tires. Did you happen to see what your 40-60 time was?

I think it was fate that you had a chance to have a showdown with a Focus RS as it was probably the catalyst for convincing you to not part out your IS350 and trade it in.

I will likely have new tires by the end of the month, hopefully ill have adequate traction and can get good 0-60 numbers and whatnot. So far with the orange virus tune my personal best 40-60 is 1.6s but most of the time it hangs around the 1.8-2.1 range. I can't recall what my best 60-80 time was but its usually around 2.5-2.8s. My times can vary quite a bit sometimes, I hope to figure out why and get proper consistent numbers. My best guess right now is that maybe my obd adapter is slowish to update, at least I hope it is something that simple.

I just got the torque app and plan on testing it with my 4gs that has rr racing tune. Does the humidity have a big effect on times? It’s 90% right now, I’ll probably try this weekend when cold front comes.

For those of you that are interested, here is a 0-60 launch of my FBO + RR Racing ECU tuned 2IS350 with an OS Giken TCD LSD. Estimated time of 4.6 seconds.

Mods are PPE Headers, RR-Racing ECU Tune (7200 RPMs), Megan Racing Midpipes, F-Sport Exhaust/Intake and OS Giken clutch differential. The LSD definitely keeps the power to the ground on both a straight line and especially in the corners.

I actually looked at your video more closely with a timer and camera and got ~4.4 seconds from the time your speedometer started moving until it hit 60mph. I just put a handheld timer next to the screen, videotaped your 0-60 run so that I could see both your speedometer and my stopwatch, then looked at how long it took to go from 0 to 60mph frame by frame. Not sure if my method is flawed, but that's what I got.

You bring up an interesting point. I'm also not entirely sure what the proper timeframe is when the clock is supposed to start. I went by when I stepped on the gas which is when the RPMs began to rise. There was a smidge of wheelspin and then the tires hooked up which accounts for the 0.2 sec difference before the speedometer begins to move which you noticed.

At the very least, it shows that there's the potential for a 4.4 sec 0-60 with the perfect launch.

The FBO+RR-Racing Tuned "Redspencer IS350" is finally part of the 12-second 1/4 mile club!!
(Times are GPS certified by Dragy)
1/4 mile time = 12.8 seconds @ 107.82mph
1/8 mile time = 8.3 seconds @ 85.93mph
0-60 mph = 4.3 seconds (w/ 1ft rollout); 4.5 sec without rollout
0-100 mph = 11.1 seconds, 40-60 mph = 1.9 seconds
The IS350 was very consistent at pulling multiple high 12s during all of my runs.
**Note: Ignore the Christmas Tree overlay. It's a visual effect from Dragy's video add-on that's still in beta and has no effect on the actual GPS recorded times.**

I couldn't believe the difference the tune made to the throttle mapping and the extra 700rpm at the top end. Even the mid range bump in power was huuuugely noticeable on the highway. I've had a couple good spirited drives with some audis and BMW's and gotten many thumbs up out of respect I would imagine. I might look into some PPE headers eventually I've heard they make the car stink quite a bit though.. I also noticed that since installing the tune it can be harder to put power down.. especially with the condition of the roads in my area. Any wheel hop just absolutely killllls the momentum..

I have no real numbers just a 2IS in the cold 40°F with new tires BFG G-Force Comp 2 A/S at 33psi, and what was labeled 100 octane meth free fuel. Add in the RR tune and you get a crappy video.... The plan with the fuel was to see what it did with knock correction values and well, I ended up doing everything but that. With traction off, RR is up in smoke, and here it spun a bit right at launch but the big win was no tree allowing swift chassis loading to 3,000 rpms and simultaneous brake release. Anything more and throttle chop will have killed it.

Our stories are the same. This spring the OS Giken LSD will be fitted and that should help level up the traction issue.
In the mean time it's fun catching the unsuspecting off guard! =D
