No, i haven't reeeally gotten it tuned correctly yet. I went to get on the highway after a little cruise, stabbed the throttle, and the car went in limp mode, no throttle...
It does this every time i go full throttle
So i gotta put more time into it. Good news, the ABS works! So my tone rings must be welded on straight enough. That's nice.
About 1950rpm @ 70mph also. Another note, the tranny shifts SO much better than my last setup. The extra effort is worth it.
After some research, i believe i was exceeding the limit of my ve table, making the pcm think it was achieving some crazy high number of airflow. The cause is running bad injector data, or more specifically, trying to make up for my lack of fuel pressure with jacking up the ve table.
This GS runs 50 psi, the 2001 was always 55psi. It's enough to make a difference, when you lose 5lbs of fuel and feed an engine that's 1.2 liters bigger on the same old 4.8 tune.....
Got my ve table back to a stock tune, and re calculated my injector data to match the lower fuel pressure. Bam, short term trims are much less crazy and at least in the driveway i can't make the throttle issue happen. With the last tune, it would consistently kill the throttle just free revving it with a stab.
Basically, i reset the tune and started over. Should be a much easier process now. FYI you're not supposed to exceed 100 or so in your VE table!
Alright alright, here's your damn video lol. Took my great Dane pup with, so of course he's in my lap.
Up until tonight, I've been battling a super bad multiple misfire that happened with anything more than 1/4 throttle. Pulling out my hair, i checked everything. Finally, i decided my problem must be ignition, it was. No ground to the passenger side coil bracket. Gm coils are provided ground, idk why this was my issue.
BUT this thing is so much stronger than the 4.8.... holy crap. The dash cluster popped out of the dash lol
Getting there on tuning. I got the wideband in and went for a spin, floored it only to immediately back off it. WOT was trying run about 15afr! Can't be running it like that...
So last few days I've been tuning VE and again had to scale my injector data "smaller" to avoid maxing out the ve table causing the throttle issue. Much safer now, WOT is around 12.5 and gets fat towards redline. Still gotta trim it up.
POWER! This thing is an animal... The 4.8 was like a Honda Vtec. No power until 4k rpm. But this 6 liter, jesus, from 2500- redline is just smooth strong power.
Super nice power band down low to help move this fat pig. It's much more civilized than before, i can lug this thing at 1000rpm in town, i can idle up and down my driveway or in parking lots.... I'm just loving having my car back.
Hell yes it has so much more top end. Thing revs fast, so fast I'm thinking about raising the rev limit over 6200. Redline comes up FAST I'm not used to it. Still not tuned perfect yet, but, meh. It's safe.

I've always like dialing in tune-ups... You have one car when you start, and can end up with something completely different when you're done.
After taking the GS to the 1/4 mile track, i realized just how bad the factory brakes can be. After about the 3rd time slowing from 100mph, that sucker started going farther and farther down the end of the track. So, i don't mind splurging a bit for safety.
It's nothing crazy, about the same diameter as supra brakes, but hey, the car will lose around 10 pounds up front

Combined with SS lines, that thing had a woah pedal that would stop you if you looked at it wrong. I wish my GT4 had a pedal like that.
