Is this the JoeZ exhaust with custom quad tips welded on? If so, can you please tell me where'd you get those quad tips? I love the fitment and want the same setup because the only quad tip exhaust available for the 2017+ IS350 diffuser is the Apexi N1-X which I don't really like the sound of.. Thanks.
Sure! I actually did this yesterday and it came out perfect! I used mothers mag and aluminum polish bought from Autozone. Each tip took approx. 20-30 mins. Just keep polishing with a rag and re-appliying the paste as needed. You will know you are removing the anodize by the black material that you see on your rag. Once the blue anodize is completely gone, polish it up with a microfiber cloth. Also, go ahead and polish the whole tip for a nice even finishing shine.
Don't worry you won't ruin any finish. You are basically just removing the burnt anodized affect on the titanium material. Polishing it out removes it down to the bare finish, much like the rest of the tip that is not anodized. Here is the product:

Well, I'm way past 20-30min per side. The blue came off very easily (not a good sign for those wanting to keep it) but I've spent a lot of time on both and there are still dark shadows of the underlying brown/copper in areas. Maybe it's the way Tsudo did it, but I'm onto my 4th rag, both sides, and they continue to be black with the stuff. Would certainly be easier if one had some sort of buffing machine; I tried retro-fitting my drill but it wasn't very effective.
Yeah, something like that would have helped... provided it is washable or something, because man does a lot of black come out, even after they appear clean.
Old thread but good info! I wasn't aware they could be polished off like that. One thing I think would look better is actually blacking out the rear most part of the muffler. That to me screams too much fast and furious seeing shiny rear mufflers.
Invidia has everything polished on their exhaust. Good to know that if I get tired of the blue for the Invidia at a later date for my RCF I can polish it out and have it not stand out.
One thing I'd like to ask since this is several years old. Any negatives with weathering or anything like that after polishing off the rear anodized blue? IE: From weather/rain/snow...etc. Has that back portion of the tip looks like it was once coated and now it's different from the rest of the tip that wasn't coated/anodized?
Way to revive the thread Nigel lol. To answer your question, no there was no weather effects afterwards. Many years after I polished it off, the polished tips looked as good as new. I’ve sold the IS back in April and got an rc F as you probably already know from the invidia exhaust threads or FB group. One of the reasons I chose to polish the burnt effect off was because I bought the exhaust used and overtime it looked more purple than the blue it comes with. Perhaps the previous user did not take care of the tips properly. On my F, I chose to keep the burn tips for now because the blue matches the blue in the F emblems. However, once I get tired of them or they are not blue anymore, I will polish them off. I also like the idea of painting the canisters black for more oem look! You got an eta yet when you’re getting your replacement exhaust?
