Yes I would agree with the impact the increase has on the 3.5l, my question is has anyone had the chance to dyno? and is this increase based on stock or mods such as headers, exhausts, intakes etc...
They put the first is350 to be on their tune on a dyno and got a gain of 14whp and torque. Plus an increased redline of 7000rpm but they can increase it to 7200rpm at your request. I actually spoke with that member (Icy350) outside the forum and he said the tune made a nice difference even though he never really took advantage of it due to where he lives and such. He is no longer an IS owner though and has since moved on to a 435i. I don't blame him either though, I really wanna upgrade to a car that has more potential and aftermarket support but really don't wanna leave the luxury, reliability, and refinement of Lexus. That's why the ISF seems like the perfect upgrade for me at the moment. It's everything I love about the IS, but with potential and finally some aftermarket support.
Note that a 10-15rwhp increase on a 3.5L motor with a baseline of 265rwhp has more of an impact than the same rwhp increase on a 5.0L motor with a baseline of 355rwhp.
Also note that the tune isn't just about peak horsepower. You'll have a stronger powerband throughout the low, mid, and high rpm range and if you opt for the higher rev limit, you'll continue to maintain peak horsepower for another 500-700 rpm over the stock rev limit.
I can also vouch that my car felt a lot faster at the last autocross event I attended as I was able to stay in the lower gears for a longer duration due to the higher rev limit while maintaining peak horsepower.
I believe you. The difference should be more pronounced for sure. But now I feel like I'm just wondering if its justified by the price. For $500 that seems great (assuming it's for the OBD) but for $800? Not so sure. Before I was sure I would get it and all, but since I plan on moving up to an F I think I may just keep my car as a show type and not a go type. But who knows honestly, I may change my mind once again. And maybe the extra performance will help tide me over till I have an ISF. Lol.
