Ovtune ECU tuning experience/review
That's great news! Not really sure if there's anything to request though. Just as long as they can figure out how to make the paddles more responsive and raise the red line for Automatic mode I think that's it. Maybe someone else can chime in on something I may be forgetting
Thanks for all your efforts.
Update is actually a lack of an update. It is the end of the day now and I have not received any news. I will wait until lunchtime tomorrow before contacting them. I understand that going through the program might not be so easy and don't want to nag them too much while they are still within the time frame I said I could go without my car.
I had the redline raised to 7200rpm on my 2GR and the extra revs are definitely appreciated. Keeps pulling strong in that range and it's nice to not have to shift as early for sure. Luckily I don't have to worry about transmission tuning, but it would definitely be nice to have it tuned. The transmission shift times aren't all that terrible in the 2IS, it's the waiting for the ECU to actually make the shift that can be tiresome. Even the 3IS models that have the same A760F transmission as the 2IS shift quite a bit nicer in their proper manual mode than the 2IS simply because of the lack of an actual manual mode. If a tune can change that it would definitely be worth it.

Bad news, I got an update on the status of my ecu and this is where things are.
"Hello,
So unfortunately we had an issue with trying to get the read/write working on your ECU. I'm not sure exactly what was causing it, as your processor is fully supported, we did manage to download the tune file, however it would not allow checksum correction to upload.
So rather than keep attempting (I tried multiple times) I overnighted the ECU back. I will be sending you a full refund as well. I am very very sorry about this. I do not know what was making your ECU file unread/writable, but we are determined to get it figured out and then try again on IS350s in the near future.
Again I am very sorry, I tried everything I could but it would not read properly with a correct checksum."
I am exchanging emails with the guy to see what we can do to fix/work around this. Does anyone know by chance if any ecu from an 06 through 09 or whatever is350 can be setup to work, even if the part number is different? He says he has successfully reprogrammed an ecu with the exact same board as mine and thinks it might be something odd with my ecu.

wow. that's really strange
from a trans tune i would like to see:
1) Paddles = True sequential shifting (not still acting as a gear limiter or make it more responsive)
2) auto throttle blip on downshifts

Well that sucks! But stand-up move on the full refund. What year model is your 2IS?
Never heard of "different" ecus having any issues with these new tunes. But who knows; it's still soooo early in this 2IS ecu tuning game.

My car is a 2007 is350. I want to keep working with the guy though, as he has already done transmissions for other Toyota's and has experience with direct injection cars. I'm waiting to hear back from him on planning a plan b.
Yes please do! We gotta keep the spark of hope going for our transmissions! Lol
Another update. They have my ecu and have figured out what went wrong the first time and are holding onto my ecu for the moment. There is a car somewhere that is scheduled to be on a dyno for them to dial in the tune and ill be receiving my ecu after they have a better tune for the car. As far as the transmission goes this is what I was told.
"Yes I have been working on the transmission code for a bit now, it is not as simple as the engine though, there are various shift / lock / unlock RPMs and pressures, etc. it will take us a while to make a safe transmission tune."

It looks like they just opened it up again https://www.facebook.com/Orangevirustuningltd/ https://www.ovtuned.com/collections/...se-1-reprogram and it looks like you would still need to send in your ecu. I don't think they have received a lot of interest from is350 owners so I am not sure where we are on the priority list.
