Angry Exhaust Fitment Problems

Hmmm, I just installed a Tanabe Hyper Medallion on my car...however, I just noticed that the driver's side muffler seems to fit kinda funny. It is about 1/2inch lower than the passenger side and the whole exhaust seems slightly tilted down towards the driver's side...more noticably on the driver's side. Would smaller (shorter) exhaust donuts on the driver's side (to pull it up slightly) or larger exhaust donuts on the passenger side (to pull it down slightly) be ways to fix this?

Check your PM.

The donut solution is ok, but non-adjustable unless you have a bunch of different sized donuts. I used adjustable hose clamps [in place of the donuts] to properly set both sides. I had to tuck the tips up even higher than normal to clear my driveway.

Thanks for replying via forums and PM. I had thought about hose clamps, but I wasn't sure if the stress of it bouncing up and down would cause the hose clamps to snap. But if you say it works, I'd rather do that than spend time figuring out what size rubber donuts to use.

Thanks

I had similar thoughts. I should mention that I kept the donuts in place [circling the hose clamp] just in case the hose clamps fail.

You might want to try this:

loosen all the bolts on the system with out removing them. Have some one hold each muffler in the correct spot and then wrench down the bolts. Hope this helps...
