Default Topic Again, Rod Millen Exhaust.

Hey guys, would anyone here have an actual pic of the Rod Millen Exhaust with a STOCK bumper? I did a search function and found a few pics of this exhaust with the RMM rear bumper. The pics that I did find with the stock bumper was at a crappy angle so I can't tell how far they stick out. If anyone has ANY newer pics of the RMM exhaust that has not already been posted on the board, please post it ! I was offered a very good deal on these exhaust, thats why I need pics !

Default RMM Exhaust on Stock Bumper

I just posted a pic of my RMM exhaust on a stock bumper in the gallery. Overall, the sound is great but I'm not happy with the fit. My Lexus dealer said the hangers would have to be cut and re-welded to get a better
fit. I've sent pics to Blair at RMM and I'm waiting to see what they are going to do.

Here's the link to the pic:

Keep us posted on what Blair says...I just ordered the RMM exhaust from Steve @ Carson and am having it installed this weekend. The sound is by far the best I have heard on the GS400....the look is mediocre. The Borla tips looks much better IMO...

Talked to Blair today and provided him with measurements on gap. 1 3/8 left side and
1 3/16 right side (top of exhaust to cutout) He's going to check with supplier and get
measurements on what is considered within spec. Blair said he'll call me back on Monday.

How was the fit on your install? Also, can you post pics when you get a chance.
As for sound, I thought it was perfect . I did a 3 hour round trip and the exhaust was
just loud enough to know its there but still quite enough to listen to cd's or talk.

I have the RMM exhaust on my '99 GS4. I bought the car with it already installed. It is just the 2 mufflers. It is real easy to install. It sounds awesome and looks great!

I will post the pics later tonight....they pipes don't fit the hole as well as I would like. I actually would like a larger tip or something that fills the gaps better....

I agree Synergy. That is the ONLY thing stopping me from getting the RMM exhaust.

Also, are any of you experiencing any droning?

No drowning here. The rest of my exhaust is stock. Plus, I have plastered the Dynamat Extreme sound deadening mat underneath the rear seat as well as the rear wheel wells. that quieted the exhaust noise from inside the cabin. I would guess if I removed or replaced the resonators with aftermarket's, I might get some drowning.

Spoke with Blair and he said the gap is about right although mine are a bit lower than
a customer he checked with. However, the one thing that's not visable in my exhaust pic
is the amount of bend the dealership had to do on the bracket. With that in mind, Blair
agreed that the hanger spec may be suspect. Anyway, Blair wants to keep me happy
and said he can send me a box (side point: always ask your installer for the original packing
material back after an install). Once I get the box, I'll have lexus dealer unstall RMM and I'll
ship it back to Blair for repairs. Overall, I expect this to take a few weeks to complete.

Synergy: Thanks for the Pic. Your exhaust looks like its a bit closer to the bumper than mine.
As for the overall size, I agree that its a bit small relative to the cutout. When RMM
switched tip suppliers, they went to a 4" pipe from a 4 1/2". (I had the old RMM 4 1/2"
on my 2000 GS300 and I must say 1/2" is a lot in this case - IF I had only known when
I traded in my 300 for a 430, I would have pulled the exhaust and re-installed on the
430 as part of the deal with the dealer - dumb me)
Bottom line - I still love the sound!

Bit larger, bit louder [but not loud enough, right?!] Still looks good. And the new lights look pretty nice, too. How much horsepower do they add?
