AFE intake causing P0101 code
Hey guys, just wondering if any of you have come across this? The intake worked fine for months, but all of a sudden has started acting up. I like the overall design of the intake, but they really half assed the MAF mount. They basically used a piece of foam as a "gasket" around the MAF sensor. This causes a leak as the foam compresses over time. You can kind of see it in the instructions here: http://afepower.com/catalog/51-10992/is.pdf
I can tighten the screws holding the sensor and not have a problem for a couple weeks, but then it comes back as the foam compresses. I can go through the same process again, but that's pretty annoying and I'm worried about stripping the tube. I emailed AFE, so we'll see if they have any solutions. In the meantime, thought I'd check here. If it keeps it up, there will be an intake for sale soon...lol.

there are some liquid gasket replacements.
a zillion years ago I got something called gasket goo. The only places that seem to have it now (quick search only) are Australian.
Maybe PERMATEX AVIATION FORM-A GASKET ?? Check ebay. No experience with it though. OTOH what you've got isn't working anyway.

I will give props to AFE, as their tech support responded quickly. He said I could use loctite, but that I shouldn't need it. As a remedy, they are sending me a replacement gasket to see if that solves the problem. Can't ask for much more than that. If that doesn't work, I may try the permatex route. I was just trying to keep anything sticky away from the MAF, but I'll be careful.
