Since the 2nd and 3rd gen IS uses the same engine (i.e. 4GR-FSE), I am wondering if their plastic intake pipes are interchangeable. Why you ask?

1) I'm hoping to pay less of a premium for better engine sound
2) the 3rd gen pipe looks straighter and seem to not have those ribs (over look is nicer too!)
3) Instead of ripped out the resonator box from the pipe in a 2nd gen and hunt for something to plug that hole, the 3rd gen came stock without one

So, anyone has connection to get cheap OEM parts?

 

Why not just buy a JoeZ intake? I somehow doubt even at a discount that the 3IS intake pipe unit is cheaper than $140

 

I swapped the JoeZ intake from the 06 to the 14 with no problems, I moved the 3IS intake pipe to the 06. I did not swap intake boxes only the tubes.

 

Thanks Nguyen, that means it is a direct bolt on without modifications, that's good to know =)

@Uda880, you are right, sourcing a factory intake will definitely be more expensive than a Joe-Z. But it does open up an option if I do stumble upon one used.
