Problems With 2jz-gte
Just after joining - I'm living in Ireland and I have Gs300 2JZ-GTE. I have done alot of work on it before I brought it out on road. And now two weeks after I thought I had it finished - I had just fit a new EFI temperture sensor so I went to turn the engine to see if all was working ok.
And then all the ing. lights came on but when I turn the key all the way to start the engine it doesn't even try to ingauge the starter. Now it did this once or twice before but all I had to do was press the red botton beside the gear stick run the gear stick slowly from "P" to "L" and back to "P". Then try it again she would start.
I posted this in gs 1ST gen but the lads said that yous might be able to help
Would any body have any ideas ??
thanks lads
Let's see... there're so many possibilities. First check and clean your battery terminals, connectors, and grounds. To help me better understand, what was your meaning to, "I have done alot of work on it before I brought it out on road."
What other things did you work on and why?
I am curious? Did your vehicle originally come equipped with the 2JZ-GTE or did you just recently install one. In America the GS300 only came with the non-turboed 2JZ-GE. Unfortunately the GS 2JZ-GTE version was never available in America.
If by moving the gear stick always seems to do the trick, it may be related with the "Shift Lock Control" ECU. This is located at the base of the shifter. Although you stated, "And then all the ing. lights came on but when I turn the key all the way to start the engine it doesn't even try to ingauge the starter"I would be more suspect to either the adjustable "Brake Light Switch" which is located up top of the Brake Pedal arm, or the "Ignition Switch" itself.
The brake light switch could be loose or wearing down just enough for a re-adjustment, and while running the shifter up and down, it may only be causing you to unknowingly press harder on your brake pedal. Just enough to start.
Many times a worn out ignition switch will require a slightly different twist or pressure of the key when turned. This seems more apparent to those who have either heavy or excessive keys on their key chain. I hope these suggestions may be of help to you.

btw...In Ireland, is your vehicle labled as a Lexus or as a Toyota? Was or is the non-turbo 2JZ-GE version available? How about the GS400?
