Default Car wont start...NEED HELP!

So today I turned the ignition on and the car did not start. It took me 3 attempts and finnaly the engine turned over. I came back home and turned the key a few times and everything seemed normal.

A few hours later I was leaving to go to work and the same thing happened! This time the engine did not turn over or stutter, I thought it was the battery terminal but after checking it was not. The lights come on, the dash works, and the radio even turns on I am thinking the starter?? I have not had any electrical issues or any problems with the car until today. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions that can help me out with this problem???

Take it to a mechanic.

Do you have a test light or a digital multimeter?

Yeh I obviously thought of that ...but before I pay to get the car towed, wait 2 or 3 days for a mechanic to inspect the car then charge me for it, I wanted to know if anyone else has had this happen and their thoughts, thanks for the input.

Sounds like the starter. What kind of noise is it making when you attempt to start it?

It makes a ticking noise when I turn the ignition or no sound at all...and I notice if I turn the radio on and attempt to turn the ignition, the radio just shuts off...

If the battery is good, and the alternator seems fine, considering you say other parts power on, then logically it would be the starter.

As a side note, isn't the radio supposed to turn off when you try to start the car? I mean doesn't it for a brief second route all the power to try to turn the engine over? Or do you mean it completely shuts the radio off?

Yeah usually the radio turns off for a few seconds and turns back on but now it statys off. Thoday I tried a friends battery and same issue...so im guessing its the starter.

I have a 2Jz ge motor in my garage....does anyone know if the starter will work on a Soarer 1J?
