Little black box under the hood???

Default Little black box under the hood???
I just picked up my 02 IS300 a couple weeks ago. After the initial inspection everything looked ok. Well the other day I found a little black box in the engine bay. It is wired to a switch in the kick panel, and wired inline with the SLT- and SLT+ wires at the ECU. I had a P1760 pop up... Clear the code, flip the switch, and no more code.

Does anyone know what that box does, other than bypassing the code and shift solenoid?
