I currently have a stock exhaust with the res deleted. Thinking about deleting the 2nd cats as well. I've tried to search for people who have done it but can't find anything. Does anyone know how it will sound? and also, does anyone know whats going on with AB 2289 which I've read is supposed to take effect Jan 1, 2013 which will no longer require a sniffer test? I've that it went through but also read that it didn't?

The JoeZ racing true dual exhaust I am about to install on my 350 deletes the rear 2 cats(exhaust is midpipe/catback together. I will be posting vids before/after on my dyno thread. You can also check out this youtube vid with a Joez racing without secondary cats
I have a stock cat back exhaust with the secondary cats deleted on my mid pipe. I still have the resonator. The sound is a little different with a slight growl but nothing major. If there was, my gf would definitely have noticed it.
I can't really say what removing the resonator would sound like (in addition to the secondary cats). But I did recently get it smogged and it did pass. I was afraid that it wouldn't without the secondary cats, but it did.
If you pass inspection or not will depend on if the inspector does a visual check under the car and knows what to look for or not. Some do, some don't. In either case the car would be illegal for street use in all 50 states, it's just a question of it you get caught or not.
