I just started putting LQ9 coils in my own cars. I'm currently trying to get them to work on stock ecu and igniter setup. 2jzgttegs, you need new plugs. Get copper ones this time around. I've never had to gap my plugs down to 17. The lowest I've ever gapped to was around 19 and that was to run 35psi of boost. The LQ9 coils pack a hell of a punch. I could probably throw in a set of 5 year old plugs gapped at around 30 and still run way over 30psi of boost lol.

Hey Jeff if I get copper plugs what gap range should I gap them to?

I am usually able run stock coils at higher boost with like .022" down to .020". With a DLI and increase the dwell on the stock coils slightly, I can open the gap to around .024-.025" or so and still be ok up to around 28-30psi boost. In my experience, Iridium plugs last just as long as copper plugs in these higher than OEM power boost applications....so basically neither lasts a long time before being worn out. I usually have to change plugs every 5-6k miles whether it is iridum or copper plugs. So just go with coppers and save some money.

However the new LQ9 coils I built into my car are so powerful, I can run really old set of spark plugs and gap them around .030" and still run upwards of 35psi boost! The LQ9 coils can safely be charged up to around 5ms dwell! That's a LOT of spark energy.

You could try Bosch 3 electrode plugs. I had spark blow out issues on my Gt35 A4, and they fixed it.

I run factory coilpacks in my 2JZ cars. My GS still has factory wasted spark coils with new wires and boots, running 20+psi on my T51R with no issues. Plugs are .032 gap

Same with the Supra, running the same plugs at 640+whp on pump gas.

I would say replace your coilpacks, or if you're still wasted spark replace your boots and wires. I had lots of issues breaking up spark before i bought new boots and wires. Replace your plugs at the same time, I suggest Denso IK24's.
