motor swap
I have a 2007 is250. It looses all power after driving it for a few minutes.. I had a big exhaust leak and fixed it and the car has did this ever since. Now I go to start it and it knocks bad and won't run at all.. I'm thinking about just swaping motor and trans with a 2jzgte... Not easy but worth it.. any advice?
kurtz will chime on this one, but check the performance section..someone did swap 2jze from florida i think..it was a project, but i think it was the wife's car or something..search it..but thats a good sleeper car..
Just search the performance sub-forum for "engine swap": https://www.clublexus.com/forums/performance-199/
There have been tons of threads like this, you'll find all the info you need there.

Are you way past powertrain warranty on miles or something? because you're still in it for years.
Anyway...there has been one successful 2JZ_GTE swap in the US I'm aware of.
it was done by a guy who does toyota/lexus engine swaps for a living and took him several hundred hours of labor.
After which he only has a couple of lights left on the dash, which won't ever go away (TC and VSC I think) but otherwise it runs/drives fine AFAIK.
Mind you, it was a base model 250 too... so if you've got the luxury or sport package you'll probably had a number of additional issues getting some of the extra features to work.
Unless your time isn't worth anything to you probably cheaper to fix your current car... or even sell it and get an IS350... which compared to a stock Mk4 Supra is quicker and gets much better mileage (though lacks the tuning capability of course).
Now, if you still want to do it anyway, and you're fantastic at making your own vehicle wiring harnesses and fabrication of your own mounting hardware and whatnot, go for it.
You'll want a subscription to TIS for all the wiring diagrams.... and I'd recommend you document it (the previous swap guy did not do so) because I suspect you could sell the custom parts and wiring to others who want to do this but don't have a few hundred hours to invest in figuring out how.
It'd be a lot cooler to try for a 2ur-fse swap. You might be able to pull one out of a totaled is-f or Ls600 and get the guts/ecus that go with it and just swap it all into the 250. Not sure if the big ole' v-8 will fit but I think that'd be a much cooler swap than a 2jz.
