GS300 Performance exhaust
Good morning all, I am relatively new to the forum so please bare with me on ignorance. I am a gear head and own a repair shop in Locust Grove GA so i know cars pretty good but history in performance is in American Old school hot rod muscle i.e 1966 Mustang. I do currently have a 2000 GS300 and want a nice, not so loud performance exhaust system that has been proven but not cost a small fortune. What do you guys, being the experts by owning and driving these cars recommend for an every day driver? Current mods are suspension wheels tires etc, no performcance mods. Car has 178xxx miles. THANKS!

David,
If you can get into Atlanta for one of the local meets, there likely are going to be several 2nd gen GSs with aftermarket exhausts you can check out.
Look in the Southeast regional forums further down the forums list on Club Lexus to see when they are getting scheduled and introduce yourself

None of them provide any real gains on a stock gs300 motor. Some can even reduce low end torque on a stock engine.
Most all the ones that are a round canister style are going to be pretty loud and have some droning such as the hks, blitz, various ebay brands like top speed etc.. The Apexi WS and Tanabe Medalion touring are both oval muffler types and have real nice tones without being overly loud and have minimal drone.
Check out all the brands and find a price/style you like and then check back for reviews and sound clips for the specific one you may be interested in. Build quality of the hks, blitz, greddy, tanabe, fujitsubo, and apexi are all top notch, the welds and the fit/finish will be excellent on any of those. They are all pricey though, and pay attention because some are only axleback muffler sections and some include the front y pipe with it.
I have yet to hear or see a 5zeigen Fireball in person, but they look good if your into that angled tip style.

All the headers on ebay are pretty much the same, obx, megan, k speed, street king, if you were interested I wouldn't over pay too much, but for $100 it may be worth trying, they should make the car sound a bitter better at least. You can search is300 header and find more results than gs300. They are interchangable, tho keep in mind the header is the same, but the midpipe under the car is not, so you have use the stock or the megan gs300 midpipe. I had the megan midpipe before my car was turbo, and I can say it did fit good and changed the tone of the car a little bit as well.
The Mazzuri headers were popular with the is300 crowd and seemed to actually make documented power gains, but they were pretty expensive and if I'm recalling right they are also no longer available for sale.

Here is a video clip when I had a stock motor, megan mid-pipe, top speed y-pipe, and hks mufflers.
