I just talked to someone that I work with, and he advised me not to purchase a performance intake with an "open-cone" shaped filter. He said I would run the risk of sucking up water, or snow and blowing my engine.
Has anyone had this problem? Is there any way to cover up the intake in some sort of housing?
Thanks. Let me know if anyone has any experience with a situation like this.
It all depends where the filter is located. Unless your running it down into the fender I would not be worried about it. I have run a SRT intake for over 100k miles, no problems.
That's not possible unless you're driving in 3 feet of water. It has happened to the SC with people who modify the engine bay to run a custom cold air intake which is routed through the engine bay. The stock scoop with an inclosure around the filter like K&N are pretty effective when it comes to cold air suction. You won't run the risk of hydrolocking the engine bay either since the filter is still in the engine bay.
are you ready for a large increase in sound? I had a SRT intake on my gs400 (then removed)and it was crazy at WOT...I have a k and n filter charger on my 4runner and love the sound (again loud)....if you have a gs300 I have no clue if it deafens the cabin or not. ok your name would be a 400 duh...

NEbiker is correct on the amazon price.
Yeah, I do have a 400 hah. Obviously the performnace is my main motive for purchasing this product, but I aslo want to get this for the sound. Is it a loud but good sounding noise? or is it just an annoying drone?
