Default F Accessories

Are the Performance Air Intake and Performance Exhaust accessories from the F accessories list on Lexus' site worth purchasing for a IS 250 AWD?

Define "worth purchasing"

The intake will add about 5 hp, and some growl, and cost around $300 from one of the vendors.

A Joe Z intake is $125 and does the exact same thing minus the noise (and you can get that just cutting a hole in the stock lower airbox so it looks like the F-sport one).

The exhaust adds the same ~7 hp all the axle-back exhausts do, and some noise... you can get other exhausts for about half the price for the same gain, but they all have their own unique sound to them.

Like Kurtz said, I would not purchase from Lexus. Go through a vendor on here or something.

For power and such I would say they are not work the $1,500 price tag (but what is for the IS). Yet if your wanting some sound, small performance gain, being different than a stock IS, nice looks and sounds I would say they are worth it!

Wow cool so other companies make these sort of addons? Will my warranty still be intact? I'd love to have the nice visual and audible touch.

Out of curousity how much of a performance gain could I expect out of ~12 HP?

You wont feel the difference, at least I don't feel the difference haha.

If you order Lexus parts our vendor Sewell offer great pricing, if you register male sure you put your club lexus account for extra discounts
Also for fsport intake type in promo code "cold" be around 290 shipped.

You mean if I register my mailing address I get a discount not my gender? I sure hope that is what you meant because that sureis sexist.

If I order the parts through them who can install the parts without voiding the warranty?

Sounds like he's joking. It should not matter on gender.

I believe Kurt or Jeff knows the answer. If a Lexus person put it in, they will cover it or something irrc.

You can have it install by a lexus dealer and they will cover it for up to one year i believe, but these are pretty simple installs so you can easily DIY. Comes with installation instructions with the purchase.

I don't think he was being sexist but a bad typer looks to be a typo where he meant " make sure you put your cl lexus account " rather than register " male yada yada "

Nothing can "void" a new car warranty.

The law works that if you install a non-OEM part, and that part causes a problem, they don't have to fix that problem but everything else remains covered.

In this case you're only replacing one pipe on the front (intake) or back (exhaust) of the powertrain... there's nothing, assuming proper install, that can go wrong really, so no need to be concerned with 'warranty' using non-Lexus parts.

The exhaust can be done yourself with a pair of car ramps in about 15-20 minutes for free... or any local exhaust shop ought do it for $50-60 in even less time.

the intake can be done yourself without anything but a couple of simple hand tools in 30-60 minutes for free... or 1 hour of labor at any decent shop.

if you go with any Lexus F-sport part the only advantage to paying the much higher install cost at the dealer is the warranty on the part becomes "the remainder of your factory warranty" rather than '1 year from purchase" if you do it yourself. Again, this is fairly pointless because it's just a metal tube, there's nothing that can fail, it has no moving parts.

I was thinking this was only the case when you purchased the parts at the time you purchased the car?
