you would def. need a catback system or a custom setup.

one of my favorites for the GS would be the tanabe medalion or the magnaflows. it fills up the rear end nicely but doesnt look too overpowering for the back of the car where it looks like ***.

The GS vehicles were engineered pretty well. I think that by switching out exhaust systems, you'll only gain noise and the power gain will be minimal, if anything. If you want your car to sound like stock, just keep the stock exhaust system and throw on some different tips. Same thing with most of the air intakes. Gains are minimal. I'd spend my money on something else like appearance.

Your asking alot from a single exhaust system. Performance, Low Price, Acceptable DB level's..

Well for the most part none of them will add any performace to a stock gs300.

And typically most round straight through muffler 'cans' will be pretty loud, and oval style mufflers will be a bit calmer. Although oval mufflers internal design can be chambered or straight through as well which can make a difference in tone, drone, and db.

As for price everyone has a different opinion of what is a low price. The ebay set that is like under $300 is an option, and one guy here installed them and posted that he was happy with them and they weren't overly loud. But then again everyone's opinion differs on what may be to loud or how much drone is acceptable.

The buy posted all over the place of the Fujitsubo for $615 was a great deal. Not sure if they are sold out yet but you might want to check the threads. I personally prefer Tanabe Medalion Touring for the classiest look and moderate tone, or the HKS Hi-Power for the outrageous look and deep idle and screaming WOT sound they make.. I've had both and they are both excellent build quality, the welds/fit/finish is top notch. But they are both probably pricier than your asking.

Tanabe Touring Medallion. But it's not cheap. Trust me, I know.

I've got some HKS Hi Power on the way for my GS400. What do you guys think about that system? Its only an axle back...

Not intending to hijack the thread but its an option for OP also.

I had it on my GS300, it sounded great. But be prepared for attention from everyone within a mile or so as it can get pretty loud at times. The idle tone was extremely deep, I was pretty impressed with that and it should be even deeper in a GS400..

I had megan mid, and top speed y-pipes at the same time, so if you till have the monster stock y-pipe/resonators it's going to tame them down quite a bit I'm sure.

I removed the mufflers and ran the megan mid and top speed y with the stock mufflers, and it sounded very nice. I liked it alot. You could hear the motor much better but no extra noise out the mufflers, it was very refined sounding.. (I did not have GTE motor swap at that time, it was still stock then)

I have custom magnaflow catback with no resonators. Quiet when idle, deep at WOT. I get compliments ALL the time. I love it. Couldn't bs happier.
