Running a tranny endlessly and never having it serviced is a disaster on the way. Nothing lasts forever, but not servicing a tranny on schedule is like never changing your engine oil and filter.

I do have an electrical connection loose on the battery as I foundout yesterday. Hopefully that will fix my transmission problem.

Flushing a tranny, or changing the fluid will not cause debris to come loose. If there's debris due to a neglicted service change then its not because one changed the fluid that there is a problem. Busha, to clam changing the fluid always causes slipping is a very unsupported statement. There is no reason unless the wrong fluid is used, the service was neglected, or the transmission already had problems before the flush was done.

So hopefully my loose connection on the battery positive was the cause.

Mine just started displaying these symptoms. But only in stop and go traffic. The problem is more noticeable in PWR mode when I press the gas lightly from a stop or slow roll the car just revs like it's in neutral until about 2k then hard-shifts into first. To alleviate I let off the gas and press again and it drops into first instantly and goes as normal.

I've heard bad solenoids could cause this as well as old/weak tranny fluid.

Anyone else experiencing this? Mine is a 1999 GS300 with around 82k miles.

I plan on doing a tranny service; fluid and filter change soon.

I know this is an old thread. The aforementioned solution is replace #1 shift solenoid. As simple as removing the pan. Lexus wants $480, on-line about $370. Upick a part. $10.00 whole transmission is $175. Pick a parts are a dream....
