Mine is ss borlas, I kinda not used to the little droning but I believe I will get used to it. I just like the overall sound, looks and performance. I hope everything gets better since I have reset the ecu.

About the droning, (and this includes any L-tuned owners) is the droning really noticeable at all times in the car, can it be heard over the fan on Low level, how bout medium level? can it be heard alot of road noise? thanks in advanced

Well, you can take or leave my imput but I have removed the rear mufflers on my 99 LS400. This car has the same engine as a GS400 with a more restrictive exhaust. On a GS you have a Y pipe, a center resonator, an "ok" splitter, dual glass packs and dual rear mufflers. On an LS400 you have a Y pipe, a center resonator, a poor splitter, dual full middle mufflers and dual rear mufflers.

After removing the rear mufflers the car became only slightly louder. It now has a "drone" at between 900rpm to 2000rpm. Below that it is more noticeable but BARELY, above 2000rpm it becomes VERY quiet.

I haven't listened to a GS with aftermarket rear mufflers but my guess is... it is only noticeable below 2000rpm. Anyone want to comment?

It is nothing really, from inside the car it is not even noticed by me. Only when I stand toward the back..

Everyone has different opinions regarding the drone. I could only stand it 3 days. At 1500 RPM it was very annoying. Although I had not upgraded my subwoofer at the time, it may be louder than the drone was. Maybe we should start a poll to see if the drone only bothers old farts like me or if you young whippersnappers aren't bothered by it.

Jbrady -

Same here on my 90..(i know we discussed this already in the LS forums heh)

The only growl I get from removing all the exhaust components was between 1000-2000 or so rpm. Louder as the engine revs down.

with the borlas, beware that the rubber hangers on the exhaust have a tendency to rot and break. borla customer service is sending me a new set as we speak. just something to think about.......

KG, regarding the "old fart vs. young whips" I am 41 so I guess some would call me old... On the LS the exhaust is more muffled than the GS and I did notice yours is a 300. The 300 and 400 will have a different resonance frequency and the droning between the 2 models could be very different. Maybe a 300 vs 400 discussion is warranted.

Hey Doc, you don't even know what is holding my Borla's on. Ask Johnny Mo or FutureGS... LOL... Those things don't like to line up right.. So if you look under the rearend of my car you'll see a good amount of heavy-duty wire ties.. Hey, it works and you can't see it... And the plus side of it is that my Borla's lineup perfect...... But half of my bodykit is on anf now the Borla's don't fit right in the back, they're are too far inward.. I just got my Apexi World-Sport cat-back in yesturday and I think they'll be on tomorrow after I get my car back from the bodyshop... Hey, does anyone have the stock hangers??? I need them and I don't know where I put mine...

I have been driving with borlas for few days now and I am loving it. My car is noisier but I like the grawl for it make my car more mean I think. I like the overall performance too.
I think with tm plugs, srt intake(race ecu) and borla exhaust my car responds much better. I am getting trd rotors and pads soon and also waiting for my l-tuned springs. I hope to get l-tuned shocks when its available on mid october with steering ecu.
well, so far I am very happy with borlas.
