Single Exhaust?
I had a singe exhaust on my gte sc3. sounds much better especially when boosted. on the 2gs though, dual is the only way to go. going single on a 4 door sedan like this would throw the look completely off the car imo.
Get what you like dont listen to other people, i'm going single exhaust a reinhard exhaust made for the aristo. But then again i'm boosted and could care less if i have one less muffler.
I'm running 3" downpipe, 3" midpipe, and dual 2.5" Tanabe Medalion rear y-pipe and mufflers. Although the Tanabe's are oval cans they are still a straight through muffler which is good for turbo, but the small piping is hurting the power. Some people assume that dual 2.5's flow as well as a single 3", but it does not.
I'm loosing a good 40-50hp because of the restriction. But my goal was to build a high hp sleeper that I could cruise around out of boost and no one would suspect anything because it had a quiet, smooth sounding exhaust, which it does do well (until the wastegate opens of course). So loosing 40hp at that power level isn't too big of a deal to me. But when removing the mufflers and rear y-pipe and driving with only the 3" down/mid pipe the power increase is obvious, and of course it sounds crazy loud, but that's not what I'm looking for.
I wanted to fairly fast car, but be able to slip around town nice and quiet and was willing to sacrifice power to do it. Where alot of people want their stock car to be as absurdly loud as possible for some reason, but have no power to back it up.
Turbo with max power = 3" or better all the way on all pipes in the system.
High power NA = best sizing can vary on 6/8 cyl depending on actual power levels, as backpressure plays a role in powerband
Low Power/Stock NA = Doesn't matter, just run what ever looks/sounds good for you
Here's an old untuned run, pushing through the Tanabe's...
