Question F-Sport Intake Inquiry

Just got a question or two.

I am aware that you are now able to purchase only the lower box and filter of the F-Sport intake from Sewell.

My question is will not having that silver pipe or elbow make a huge difference? I mean, buying the lower box and filter IS after all about only half the price.

What will I be losing out on if I buy only the lower box and filter?
Will buying the whole set for around $300 really make that much more of a difference than just the lower set?

Thanks in advance!

You'll be losing out on the visual appearance. Neither the F-sport box, filter or silver pipe show any improvements in power. Just noise.

Well there is some data showing the tubes provide a slight 5hp improvement over the stock. See joez dyno. I assume it has to do with the obstructive ridges and snorkel of the stock intake.

That's simply not the case.

He will be missing out on all the performance gain, but get most of the sound, of the full intake.

The pipe is the only part that actually does anything useful.

It's essentially a copy of the Joe Z pipe, which provides dyno proven gains of about 5 hp.

Modest, but certainly not imaginary. (and for the price it's literally the best bang for the buck of any +hp mod available for the 2IS)

So would you say that just buying the lower box and filter without the full intake kit is a waste of money?

If your goal is performance gains then yes.

If your goal is to make the car louder that'll do it just fine.... but then so would simply drilling a hole in the stock lower box similar to the F-sport hole, and that'd be free.
