Hi Everybody,
Just new to the board, I need some help and advise. Just this
morning I was trying to start my toy(gs3) but to no avail it won't
start. I'm just hearing a weird sound from the starter. but the engine will not rotate.
A.Does anybody know or had an experience changing a starter?
B.Is starter included in Lexus warranty since my toy is only
3yrs & 9mos, if not will it cost me an arm & leg if the dealer
will do it for me?
Will greatly appreciate any answer to my questions.
You should have a 4year/50,000 mile bumber to bumber factory warranty if you bought it brand new. This warranty should cover your starter if it has gone bad. If you hearing a clicking sound, it's more likley to be a bad battery. If you are hearing a whirring sound it is likely your starter not engaging the flywheel and starter needs to be replaced.
I would take it to the dealer since you seem to be still under warranty.
What I hear is a whirring sound, you are great you save my neck
and the torture of thinking what to do.
I'll take your advise , I'm going to the dealer for sure now that
my GS is still under warranty. THANKS a lot BLW . You will be
hearing from me . I'll update you, but first I need to contact
a tow truck.
Thanks everybody for your reply, just like what you said I call up
the dealer & they refer me to that 1 800 # , they were so very nice.
they told me that the tow truck will arrive in one hour, true to
what they say it arrive w/in an hour. And they even call me back before one hour pass to check if the tow truck arrive.
My dealer fixed it for free & they even car wash it. They put a new battery on it, they said that the flywheel & starter are OK,
only they found a bad cell in the battery aside from that everything is in condition again.
