Default Lightweight crank pulley

Before anyone says anything i have searched for threads and i did find some back from 08 but didnt see any results from them. Now its 3 years later and does anyone know if any company has made a pulley for the 2is. When i had my xrunner nst did one for us, same sice just a 60 percent reduction in weight for around $140, and it was a great mod that you instantly noticed a difference in power and response. I read in some of the threads of a concern with underdrives and some kind of balancer. But why not just make a exact oem replacement pully just out of alluminum that weighs 50-70% less. Any one know of anyone thats made them. I also read on my.is that unorthodox was interested in making one but that was back in 08 and i cant seem to find anything.

a company called SPECT makes some for the 3.0L in the IS300, GS300, AND SC300. havent found anything for the 2nd gens. I read up on lightweight pulleys but can someone help me understand exactly how it works? what takes place so that there is more power? thanks

Full aluminum pulleys are not the best idea. The crank pulley is a harmonic damper. It has a solid hub and outer ring with rubber in the middle to suck up vibration that would otherwise be transmitted through the crank shaft. If you have hopes of some aftermarket pulley coming on the market it should be Fluidampr or ATI-Super Damper.
ATI might even be able to build on from existing parts from the catalog.

Lighter=less mass for the engine to turn=less engine power used to turn the pulley=more power to the wheels

Underdrive pulleys change the diameter of the pulley....think ten speed bike

hmmmmm im reading a lot of bad things about a lightened pulley... people are saying the gains are barely notable, and that it could have bad effects on the entire engine in the long run...

Click here. Click on the The Dangers of Power Pulleys and Understanding Harmonic Damper and you'll see why it's a bad idea.

This article even quotes information direct from Toyota.
