Well I've only had my GS400 for about a year now and I'm going to change mine with filter just cause I don't know if it's ever been done and I'm at 135K. But I've read of other people on CL changing their tranny fluid only with every oil change. So sounds like changing your tranny fluid often would'nt hurt anything except maybe you pocket.
