My next MOD is to install the F intake kit from Sewell. Just placed it on order yesterday. I down loaded the DIY instruction. Just wondering if any of you have any additional info, before I start the R & R.
Aligning the tube was a well let's say a BIG pain! The clip thingie on the side of the box that holds the wires that connect to the sensor is difficult to get to for me atleast. I had to use some curved needle nose plyers to curve into the hole and squeeze the clip so that it would come out. Oh and the cuplers are different. GL
try not to drop it like I did. It's surprisingly easy to put a dent into it! Actually the toughest part for me was getting the clips that hold the lid to clamp down. For some reason, one of them wouldn't fasten, so I had to take it off and give it a good whack with a hammer to slightly straighten it out.
Take your time with the install. You may want to disconnect the negative terminal on your battery to prevent the ECU from reading the MAF sensor on the intake while you take it apart.
Only remove the front hood panel, engine cover, and the passenger panel. Don't be like who removed all the panels. Oops! Keeps track of your screws and clips... I ended up with an extra bolt. LOL... But I later found out where it goes.
Shouldn't be that hard... just a simple remove and replace job. You'll need a 6 inch socket extension to remove the lower airbox. Also removing the factory clips from the bottom airbox is a little tough. Don't worry about it breaking... mine didn't break. Then transfer the clips to the f-sport (if you're planning using full f-sport).
easier than doing the lights. b4 u put the plastic plates back on, make sure the maf sensor, and air scoop is on securely. and be sure the tube is snug and tight and that there is no wiggle or play. i rmb my first time installing i rushed it and the intake popped out when i was driving causing a chokey acceleration. very scary.
what makes it hard for people to align is because they will put the throttle body side on, tighten down the hose clamp ALL THE WAY down tight, and then try to get the otherside to fit in, no no. whenever installing anything, never tighten up one thing all the way before at least starting to get the other side clamp on, or bolt in (etc.) always start all bolts in a few threads before tightening any of them up completely.
