Default Exhaust/Cabin Drone

I just installed the HKS hi power axleback on my 08 IS250 and there is a significant amount of cabin drone in 4/5/6 gears from 2500/3000k rpms. Any ideas on how to reduce?? Would adding a mid pipe help?

well....in a word, no

you'll have to do one of two things to "fix" the problem:

1. go back to stock
2. trade someone for a different axle back (which will probably still drone)

ps....its gonna be louder if it isnt stock, just get used to it and enjoy the engine sounds.

HKS is the loudest for IS and mid pipe make it even louder. Best bet like say above go back to stock or get a diff exhaust

Realistically, I never got used to my loud exhaust, even after more than a month. Sorry, but if it's loud, it's loud and it's not going to be getting any better. Thankfully, the HKS Hi-Power do have silencers which are inserts into the exhaust tips. It is not going to help with the midpipe noise which is, from what I can tell, the main drone, but it will help if you find your acceloration noice too loud.

If you are very sensitive to the noise, why not go with a quieter exhaust like Tanabe or Greddy? Perhaps, you can offer a trade to see if anyone wants to exchange exhausts.

I wanted the quietest exhaust because I am very sensitive to the noise. Even I think that the Tanabe is a bit too loud... maybe I'm just too used to the stock. But I do love that it's a step louder than the stock.

Just put silencers, they make a day and night difference. I did that on my HKS.

At first the drone was bothering me. But I got used to it now. I think it really depends on your lead foot.
