Default GS4 Gas Mileage

Hey gang,

I just purchased my 99 GS4 a couple weeks back and wonder what kind of gas mileage you are getting? I don't play with e-shift that much, I assume gas mileage would be worse using that as well as having PWR MODE enabled? I am getting about 16.7 with a 50/50 split local/freeway driving.

What are you guys getting? Do you use e-shift and PWR mode?

Thanks!

That is totally weird. I am at about 17MPG...hmmmm. I am using super unleaded gas as well. I have had a heavy foot over the last couple of weeks since I just bought it and am really loving the power!!!

80% city, 16 mpg. And I drive mellow most of the time [not that there's much of a choice in the stop & go traffic].

E-shift rules. I rarely drive without. And always power mode.

It depends to a HUGE extent how much highway driving you do. You can drive like a bat out of hell on the highway and get 20+mpg.

Drive like a snail in stop and go traffic in town and you'll get 15.

I get about 17 in town and 24 on long highway drives.

I hear ya! I like E-Shift as well!! I also like power mode, but wonder if it is hard on the engine to cruise in power mode all of the time....any thoughts?

Wife gets 19mpg at around 70% city
I get around 17 city w/e-shift and many trips to the redline.
Ususally tops out around 23-24mpg straight highway averaging 75mph. High mpg has been 26 or 27, with a low of 15.

Tire pressure and tire brand/size will also affect mpg.

Hard on the engine? No. PWR mode changes the shift points, it doesn't add any 'power' to the engine. I always leave PWR mode on.

The Lexus V8 is almost indestructible too. Now the tranny - that can be wrecked but even that you'd have to work hard at.

I drive about 80% city with my 98GS4 and get close to 20 MPG using E-Shift.

Bit, good call on the PWR Mode! Would that mode matter if I use E-Shift? Do the shift points change if you're not using E-Shift?
