Default PPE Header ?

Quick ? Do they acutally replace the Primary Cats? I live in Tn where we have a "mild" emissions check each year and i have a invidia mid pipe that deleted my 2nd cats. If they do replace the primary ones im afraid that I would not pass emissions. Any help??

The PPE header eliminates your primary cats. If you buy the optional high-flow cats that get welded onto your midpipe, you can still pass emissions.

Or, just find a "friendly" shop and slip him some extra cash.

How did you get $1200+ for these headers?

Technically removing working cats from a car is a violation of federal emissions law, even if you replace them with "hi flow" cats.

Realistically most $10/hr inspection monkeys won't notice as long as you have something vaguely cat-looking under there.

I agree. If there are no cats, then it is a straight-through setup.
Even if they can't verify visually, running cat-less usually emits a strong odour that suggests there are no cats. Believe me, I ran a straight-through setup before and you can smell it both inside and outside.

Emissions every two years here, I just swap over the old ex....

1200 sounds a bit ^. Cost to benifit is more on the cost side.

If you want them, get them! Outside of FI, there aren't any other mods for the 2IS that give this big a bump in whp. Here's my advice for the emissions and cost dilemma:

Purchase the headers, but get a new emissions inspection before you get them installed. Hold off on the high-flow cats - after all, you've got two years to figure out how to pass emissions. After two years, you can either buy the high-flow cats or just find a friendly mechanic to give you a pass.

Guess you missed where he said in his state the emissions inspection is every year?

Yup we have the check every year. It a little place you have to go where they put that thing on your gas cap, stick that thing in your exhaust, and plug that thing into your computer Man i really want these.

I did. Still doesn't change my answer, though.

I guess if i do get them and they ended up saying something at emissions, I could take my invidia Mid Pipe back off and put the stock one on with the secondary cats.
