Lightbulb Not On a Lexus

BB - Don't know anyone ( except maybe Todd @ TM Engineering ) that has ported or polished their cylinder heads. I've done it before on domestic cars like my Corvette but I was running aftermarket heads from Brodix ( in Arkansas ). U're right in the middle of the mecca of performance parts so I'd check in the phone book for some speed shops that probably do this. Isn't Air Flow Research & Dart Cylinder Heads in Cali? Not really sure that it's necessary unless U really trying to wring out ALL the power in the 4.0 Lexus V-8 & then U've still got to richen up the fuel & spark curves to take advantage of the additional potential airflow. This would require larger injectors ( possibly ) & certainly some form of electronic tuning control ( A-Pexi or Haltech, perhaps ). Polishing can be detrimental to a street driven car as it can lead to puddling of the fuel in the runners - U really need some turbulance for proper combustion ( especially at the lower compression ratios of todays cars ). It's a good idea just to simply gasket-match your intake to the intake gasket ( exhaust ports as well ) but w/o some volumetric efficiency U'll have NO torque & that's what gets ya off the line. IMHO - it's not worth the effort or cost for the minimal gains it'll yield. Yes, it's possible to pickup that 30 HP ( or more ) your Mustang friend speaks of but parts R more readily available for HIS car to make the most of it.

thanks alot for ur imput mean gene sems to complicated to get that horsepower, but it would be great cuz it would be all engine i was also wondering about changing the cam i really just want raw power from engine. my buddy keeps egging me on to get a 75 or 100 shot of nos with some sneaky peaks for around $500 dollars. im torn cuz i have the racing ecu srt intake borla exhaust eibach racing suspension and some 19's inch 2 piece wheels i haven't put on yet and trd stb, i have to save up for tc still but still not just pulling real hard. my goal would be to pull away from a 6spd vette with slight mods...

pulling away from a vette is extremely ambitious, so i don't think it could be done with simple mods. NOS? be very careful about who does it and you gotta understand it very well. happy hunting!

Unhappy Doubtful!

BB - Don't get your hopes up about pulling a 6 speed 'Vette UNLESS the Corvette driver misses a gear. I've got a few guyz around town with C-5's running exhausts & chips plus a couple w/ no mods & I can't hang with them! Sometimes I make it interesting when they spin off the line but they're running low 13's thru the quarter while the best that I've done is a 13.79 @103 ( consistently can run 13.8 - 13.9 in full street trim ). Forced induction is an option & I'm looking into a Nitrous Express setup myself but I run squeeze for many years so I know what I'm getting into ( like Bravo advises ). Don't even THINK about trying a Z06 w/o it or a supercharger!!
If U already have the heads of ( for some reason ) they U could try the P&P job but I wouldn't disassemble the motor just for that purpose. Not sure about a cam change due to the VVTi system?

Think C4 (maybe even LT4), don't even think about the C5. Hey, you can try to play with him on the freeway but don't expect much...gotta go FI to hunt C5s.
They dyno 305/330lbs of torque bone stock RWHP. And they weigh almost 500 pounds less than our G4s. Do the math.

I've been smoked by the C5 vettes before! The ZO6 just hang it up no chance! even with a Stange II S/C it would be a good chance you would still loose...in the 1/4. on the hyw at higher speeds you might get a ZO6 due to the high psi boost you could build.
