Default Misfire under load when hot

Hi All,

My Gs300 has a misfire just started up, only when the car is hot and only at certain rpm, on hills or overtaking etc. You can rev through the misfire but it's getting worse i think. My money is on one of the colis? Does anyone know the resistance to test the coil? Any other ideas/experiances?

Thanks a million in advance,,

I HAVE THE SAME MISFIRE. Going to have it checked this week. I believe its a coil, or coil and plug combo. Good luck

Have the code read. It will be something like p03##

Example p0301 means your misfireing cylinder one.

I am haveing the same problem getting p0301. The car is at 102k miles. Going to replace with new OEM coil and new spark plugs for the long run.

I usally get my parts from a buddy who work for the dealer so I cant say how much. But I was looking at Carson Toyota and they go for $108.76 I think you can get a better deal by contacting them directly. They are vendors on the forums:

But good news for me, strangely my car hiccup problems went alway after driving the car with the engine cover off. I reseted the ECU by removeing the postive battery terminal for 20 min. So far I have put on 40 miles and no more "VSC, VSC OFF, and ENGINE Lights"

Also if you decide to do it yourself "HERE" is a link I have used in the past to change my spark plugs. It is very helpful and post #65 is the key.

register online to sewell lexus....they give CL member pricing.

If not registered on sewell...you get regular pricing.

btw...I had misfires in cyl #1 and #6....I swapped my plugs around and that was the problem....nothing wrong with coils or injectors. Replaced all 6 plugs....runs like a champ.

For people reading, the way to figure this out is to get yourself a handheld scanner, pretty cheap, and see where the misfire is or if it's even isolated to one cyl. If any one cyl has misfires, then you swap the plug and coil for that cyl to other cylinders and see if the misfire moves with one of the swapped parts. Then you know what to replace. If you find that all cylinders are misfiring when the problem occurs, you are looking at a OCV solenoid, MAF, throttle, or some component that has to do with the entire engine's ability to run right. Sometimes just pulling codes gives you a good direction to head in.

Fern1977, you will likely need to clean you throttle body out good since you have disconnected the battery. I had your issue and it was the OCV solenoid. It may be something else though. That is kinda a hard one to diagnose.
