Default Good Muffler Shop in Orange County (CA)

Just want to pass on this info to So. Cal folks. I had to replace the muffler tips on my Van because it was needing it. Anyway, this shop (I have no financial interest in this nor do I know the owner), Anchor Muffler, in Anaheim, CA, replaced it with a 2.25" chrome tip for $6 bucks...er $6.47 including taxes and welding!!!

I went to this shop in the first place after seeing some positive feedback on the internet. They've been in business for 38 years.

Mike your tips are on the way. Just remember to tell the muffler shop to TAC weld the tips on too your stock muffler. Too center into position have them just do a few tac welds to allow you to center perfectly into the cavity, than have them finish the weld with the tips in place. There should be no welding marks from the outside as most of the weld takes place inside the back end of tip. Don't worry if some of the copper weld seems to bubble out it should just glob up in place but it will be out of sight.

Post a picture when its done.

I paid meineke about $20 too both tips.

thinking about switching back from Ltuned muffler to stock, called anchor muffler shop, a womoan quoted me $35 for the labor of switching.

does that seem high to you guys? when they only charged ~$10 to weld on tips to mufflers. It's a simple take screw off, replace muffler, put screws back on type of job.

I am looking for shops because i don't have ways of raising the car.

Um.... it cost my friend $40 to install his Borla and some minor welding to put them in center. A simple bolt-on should cost around $30 or less, assuming you did not have aftermarket rear LCB to block the pipes.

$35...lex430, might as well go to longo and have them do it for $40(0.5 hr labor) with free car wash

that is very interesting..they charge very low for welding on tips, and yet kind of high for simple bolt-ons

i should ahve asked whitel when i had my tips installed

Sounds a bit high. Perhaps the woman did not understand that the muffler is way in the back- which means removing and replacing is half as hard as when the muffler is in the middle of the car--like some cars (Mustangs).

The $35 sounds like they will provide a muffler also. Ask to talk to the owner--Mike. He was the one that gave me the estimate for the tips.
