i wanted to see if anyone attempted to add ecu and what tools you'll need and how long it might take i am going to be recieving srt intake and ecu just want to get a heads up thanks,
Big - It's been awhile but all it took was a soldering iron, small drill bit/drill & wire cutters ( plus some patience - rather tight working area but still easily done ). If U're not handy with a soldering gun then check with your local stereo store & one of their installers should be able to follow the diagram. Good luck & enjoy the intake!
In future, when needing more immediate diagnostic attention, PM me or call the SRT facility directly at (301) 384-7319, as I didn't see this thread earlier.
What's the status of the SRT Ecu being installed in your car? How did everythnig work out?
Normally 1 of 2 things, or both happen during the installtion process of hte SRT Intake System w/ Race Ecu:
(1) Incorrect wiring. Please be sure to recheck all of your connections according to the directions.
(2) Disconnect the negative battery terminal after wiring the SRT piggy Ecu for approximately 15-20 minutes.
If neither of these troubleshooting methods achieve resolution, please contact me so that it can be corrected.
thanks i didnt no but i was rushed when doing it, it took me all of 1 hour to do everything and the hardest part believe it or not was the intake cuz is so tight of a fit, so i called srt and they said it soundeed like the wires were reversed but i was pretty sure i did everything right to my dismay the only wire you cut i had soldered to the wrong color but the car still started so i was very impressed with that and didnt want to look dumb just a rushing mistake cuz it was 12:30 on a work night and i still had to take 1 of my buddies home that was watching me do it. he thought i was crazy cutting into my wires, i told him i had complete confidence though cuz i have done alot of soldering in my days previous hehe thanks though.
FYI, getting a butane soldering iron will help alot. You can get one at Radio Shack. Having to work with an electric soldering iron can be awkward especially with your face squeezed between a big pile of pulled up carpet and your glove compartment. Also remember to use the better quality solder for electronics.
Unless something's changed with the new "race" ecu (which I still haven't received, Marken), the SRT ecu referred to is in engine compartment - not the steering ecu under the dash, so under-dash isn't the problem. It's just that the wiring bundles are pretty tightly packed so getting enough slack to cut, splice, and solder is a little troublesome. Correct me if this is wrong.
curious about the steering ecu. what does it produce? the performance aspects are? the venom 400 any good on the lexus gs400. How about the jet chip? just wondering what some of the big dogs thought about these things. thanks bryan
