I don't have a video from before I removed the resonator but mine sounded the same as the first video. The second video with the midpipes sounds just like mine without the resonator.

i'm guessing nicer looking steel pipes and weight loss are the main thing. other than that they seem to be the same?

idk to be honest it sound alike at lower rpm. but when you reach high ones like your last rev that sound kinda nasty IMO sound a bit to ricey for me on. but that my taste though but you're also right to. "Baller on a budget!"

Seems that you got upset, sorry I guess . The whole point in my first comment was to inform people that maybe were curious just as I was before getting my exhaust, which I think is the point of the forum, so they could get the same sound and perhaps spend the 300+ of mid pipes on a intake or something else.

If you notice a difference, it could be because you are inside your garage and because I slammed it hard, but I'm pretty sure they would sound the same if they were side by side in person... Most people would say that hks hi-power is ricey regardless if you have mid pipes or not, so to most, your car sounds ricey too, lol. Its not about being a baller on a budget (I can, and buy my own parts, not my GF ), if it was for that, I would have gotten axel-back instead of cat-back or perhaps just the mufflers, I was about to buy the mid pipes but I did some research and I decided to listen to it without the resonator first, but since it sounds the same and I wasn't looking to make the car pretty underneath, it doesn't make sense getting the mid pipes.

Honestly I don't know, but the resonator is definitely heavier than the piece of tubbing that replaced it, however, my purpose was to get a more aggressive sound than I had obtained before removing it. I have to say that now it's kinda loud, but me coming from Honda's and Acura's, I like it, maybe I'm a ricer lol.

I have the resonator somewhere in the basement, if you really want to know the weight I could dig for it and weigh it, but then you would have to weigh the length of the resonator in a piece of exhaust tubbing to make out the difference.

it would be great tif you could weigh it so that you can show that the midpipe is not worth the price.

we can assume the straight pipe welded in is about 1-2lbs.

no you didnt offend me or anything.
i totally agree with your idea.
it was a good decision you made on saving money wise.
and yes weight reduction is what really matter.

Let me start by saying that this is just my opinion from what I have read, seen, and sound I have heard.

As I mentioned earlier, "in terms of sound" it seems the same to me, and since I was looking to get a more aggressive sound, for my purpose, mid-pipes were not worth it compared to just removing the resonator (note that the mid-pipes also replace the resonator).

Per the mid-pipes description, it says that you could "free up horsepower by increasing airflow" but to do that, you need to have aftermarket headers, immediately followed by the mid-pipes, then immediately followed by a aftermarket exhaust, otherwise there would be a bottle-neck at the point where you don't have one of these parts.

At least in the Invidia mid-pipes description that I read, there was no mention of weight reduction, and if you look at it (assuming that is the actual product), it splits into two pipes way before the OEM pipe does, so even if the material is lighter, it is double the piping.

According to my scale, the resonator weighs 8.4 lbs, to the right side, the piece of pipe is about 3-5 inches, so if the piping that replaced it weighs 1-2 lbs then I have reduced the car's weight by the difference (6.4 - 7.4 lbs), as a side effect of what I wanted, the sound.

thanks for weighing dembou. looks like you saved some weight and some cash.

thanks mv350 for the insight. knowing what you know, was the invidia worth the extra money?

to me it was and still is, but if you have a hard time on spending 300 bucks on mid pipes its up to you. i plan on putting magnaflow mufflers on very soon. and i feel that it will sound great, but even with stock mufflers and the mid pipes i like it... alot!
