NO NO NO! Then they MUST have extended their rev limiter!!! It thas NOTHING to do with power. By adding more power you will just get there faster!
Obviously if the rev limiter is increased AND/OR the speed limiter is REMOVED via a standalone ECU then...YES the top speed can be extended.
I am sorry but we all were talking about if everything else is held constant. i.e. not messing with the rev limiter or the speed limiter. The GS4XX WILL NOT go ANY faster than 132mph with the 3.76 gearing and stock tranny...PERIOD! I don't care how much WHP you add.
Also, the supra transmission is A LOT different than the GS4XX transmission this changes everything!!! It is apples to oranges...

if your supra was a 6spd then it had 2 advantages over the a650:
a650 has a split gear. IIRC it's 2nd? Or 3rd? Split by OD to make another gear.
a650 also only has 1 gear past 1:1 with the split (hence, such a ***** to dyno)
v160 has straight 6 gears, no split, and 2 (or 3?) gears past 1:1.

I have it correct trust me... If you've ever driven an E-shift IS300, you'll notice that it always starts in second gear. The reason why I know this is because of my good ole buddy Lance Hung. I'm not sure if you've ever heard of Toyomoto, but he's the one behind it all. An MKIV supra can easily hit 172 mph if it is setup properly. With the 6spd. rear end with the 3.133 ring gear, it has already hit the 250mph barrier in the mile. This is proven with SW's black car. If you don't believe me, come to houston the weekend of March 19th-21st and see the auto boys duke it out in Mexico.

Hmm.. This is something that I'm still doubting. Because I remember my friend Mike(1SickLex) going almost 155 when he had his GS4xx. I guess that I need to complete putting my GS back together and see if this theory is true or not. Oh, you'll be amazed that the A650E and A340E aren't different at all. In fact that they both only have 4 forward gear. But only on the A650E, the overdrive of the 2nd gear is use as the forward first gear. I've built both of them before. Nothing new here.
If he hit "almost" 155mph...even if it was 152mph - it could have been a slight downwind pushing the car a little faster combined with the speedometer becoming LESS accurate at those speeds. As per Lexus the GS400/GS430 is electronically limited at 147mph in stock form.
We can always agree to disagree if you'd like.

Don't remember exactly how much, but I paid over grand for sure. I found this guy from supraforums.com and located east coast NY somewhere. Shipped it to my place w/out any probs. GL

From what I can recall Mike's old GS (GS400, if my memory serve me right) never had the 3.76 rear gears. He had MANY mods (with a crapload of suspension mods) but I do not think he had the 3.76 LSD back there; or if he did I assure you he never hit 155mph with the 3.76 gears installed.

Factory limits top speed to 149mph with the factory 3.266 gears by limiting RPM in 5th gear.
Installing 3.769 gears causes the computer to see the RPM limit in 5th gear at around 130mph. Installing 3.91 gears would further lower top speed as would 4.27 gears.
