ok....then has yours ever clogged up...i mean u saying you running one and then telling people NOT to use them as they will clog it up, that makes no sense

I see nothing special about the SRT intake ECU compared to something like the Weapon R intake and SAFC. To me it's a larger intake with a nice bend, good flowing filter, and piggy back ECU "tune". Only thing I see better with the SRT set up is that it's already configured. Oh, and saying "I have a SRT intake". There is nothing ricey about it. Paint it wrinkle black if you don't like the polished look.

exactly you will get slightly better gains with the safc intake combo anyways. To me there is no point in doing the srt intake. Unless u wanna take the easy way out.

run intake pipeless. . Be a man. Do the right thing.

Intake + Exhaust + SAFC/Neo has given people in the forum a noticeable gain.

intake alone doesnt do much.

LOL. Like the older cars out of the 60's and 70's do it. I am running no air cleaners atm on my carbs. Just velocity stacks. I will probably change that soon though.

How is this "rice" when compared to other systems? They are all the same thing, an intake, so stop pretending your lexus is a Ferrari.

OP, I would search all the different intakes available for the GS, that way you may get more facts on real expirences, rather than opinions

I have the "secret weapon" weapon r intake lol, but i used to have the dragon intake, and it did look a little ricey... but to the OP I agree with almost everyone else, just get the drop in , or some kind of intake/ecu mod combo.

The concept behind the SRT is a LARGER capacity pipe that theoretically will not become a restriction at high RPM. The other pipes are stock diameter and therefore will not change the stock MAF elements tuning. The larger SRT will lean out the tuning because the MAF does not know it is now in a larger tube it only knows the air flow is reduced (what it senses not what is actually flowing, the larger tube will have lower air speed for the same volume of flow speed) It leans the mixture TOO much and a device must be used to correct the mixture to a safe level either the SRT "race" module or a SAFT or NEO.

I prefer plastic tubes as they are light and do not conduct much heat from the engine compartment to the air flow. Metal tubes conduct much better.

The stock tube also has a helmholtz resonator (that big ugly black box on top of the passenger cam covers) this device actually IMPROVES flow at certain RPMs and loads creating more power than without it.

My ideal design would be slightly straighter, slightly larger diameter plastic with the CORRECT helmholtz resonator size attached. It would be interesting to test the K&N (stock size straighter design) with the stock helmholtz. The power that this effects is NOT peak power and therefore not easily seen on a dyno IF at all however it does effect the vehicles feel and performance.

Yes, the pipe by it self will not work. Like jbrady said, the larger diameter of the SRT pipe throws the maf out of wack and sends incorrect data to the ecu. But attempting to tune with a A/F controller other than SRT's race ecu is going to be a handful, thanks to our "awesome" ECU
