At first I had the invidia midpipe + hks hi-power (no silencers) = way too loud. Next I installed the silencers and drove around that way for about a week. Much quieter, but kinda raspy sounding and not much of a deep exhaust note. My brother commented that my 350 now sounded like a civic, go figure. Next I removed the hks hi-power exhaust and installed the Tanabe. The Tanabe + invidia midpipe is obviously louder than the stock midpipe + Tanabe. The deep bass note that everyone talks about with the tanabe is still there, although a bit of the invidia midpipe raspiness is blended in. I'm on the fence regarding whether or not I like the sound now, time will tell.

 

do you have a sound clip of tanabe and the mid pipe. i would like to hear the combo.

 

The bass/drone sound at 2-3k is what i don't like. At high RPM's i don't care how loud it gets. It's just daily driving I'm always around 2-3k and it gets annoying. If i could get rid of that but keep the sound at high RPm's than i wouldn't be complaining. Why couldn't have HKS designed the exhaust differently.

 

I dont have the mid pipe but i deleted my resonator. And the drone did get louder. But at least the exhaust doesnt die after 3k. I'm very happy how my exhaust sounds. My car honestly sounds like g35/350z but much louder. I want to hear the HKS with the Invidia mid pipe in person.

 

I'll try to put one together this weekend.

I just put my stock exhaust back on with the mid pipes and it sounds weak. Why can't I find a happy medium.

 

personally i like the way it sounds. not quite stock and not loud. just a different tone.
