Post ISX50 Resonator Delete - Review

After coming across this thread:
http://my.is/forums/f122/resonator-removed-381094/

I decided to get mine done as well. I took it a local shop in SOCAL and I was in and out in 40 min. (PM me if you are local and want to get this done as well.)

My intial impression of the OEM system is that it's too quiet. From reading across my.IS and ClubLexus, the exhaust is not "too" restrictive at all, so performance is pretty solid. I did not want to drop ~$1000 on a mod that would only give the car 5hp at most. So I went ahead and got it deleted.

It's quiet. If you are not used to hearing exhaust sounds, you will barely notice. But knowing how quiet our exhausts can be, the sound was clean. It's not going to be as audible as an aftermarket, of course, but the sound is clean without raspiness. It's a deep tone that doesn't sound obnoxious and dare I say it sounds comparable to an OEM BMW exhaust system. Windows up or down, you have to actively notice it. No droning in the cabin and you'll probably even forget about the sound after awhile.

I am happy.

If any of you SOCAL local's want to hear it and make your decision, PM me and maybe a group of us can check it out and have some food/mini-meet.

P.S. I'll try to make an audio/video clip if necessary.

Finally someone else that did it!! lol i removed mine about 2months ago and your right you can barely notice it unless you really open up and it sounds nice. But since I have an intake and it completely drowns out the exhaust. So i was thinking of chopping off my stock mufflers and replacing them with a pair of magnaflows that i found that look nice and im sure that will def. give it some more deep sound.

iirc, resonators are in-line chambers in the exhaust system that alters/lowers the noise level created by the exhaust being expelled by the engine.

deleting them will raise/alter the noise level, but should have no effect on emissions. that's what your catalytic converters (or "cats") are for.

How much did it cost?

Do you think resonator delete + Lexus HKS will be similar (or a little lower) to the sound level of the F-Sport? I love my lexus HKS, but I feel its pretty quiet - not noticeable - 30% of the time ...

I'm curious now to how it would sound if I deleted my resonator on my invidia midpipe with a tanabe axle back.
