I was in autozone today and saw that they carry a line called spectra i believe that looks like the K&N. Now i need to replace my filter on the RMM intake and it says that the spectra will fit 3", 3"1/2 and 4" diameter intakes.. I haven't measured the RMM yet but I'm sure its 3 or 3-1/2..
Those filters(cotton gauze mesh) are junk, even the K&N. The reason is because they are all highly porous and allow in a ton of dust. If you ever hold up one of those cotton gauze mesh filters up to the light, you will see many little holes where the light shines through directly. Those holes let the dust and contaminants pass through. The filter I use is the AEM dryflow, it has no holes in the filter. The K&N will be slightly less restrictive, but at the cost of letting in a ton of crap into the engine.

Thanks Jeff,, Where can i get a AEM from.. Something that will fit the RMM intake? I have to measure but i think i need a 3"
BTW saw your DIY's for your engine on youtube.. Very knowledgable..
Thanks man. You can get the filter from Summit racing. Just search for AEM Dryflow and it will come up with a big list. Go through and click on them. It will list dimensions for all the filters such as inlet diameter, filter length, bottom filter dia, top filter dia, etc. They're around $45-50 or so which isn't too bad. They are washable and reusable just like the K&N filters, but the only difference is that you don't need to oil these. There are no holes in these filters like the K&N. The K&N filter uses the oil to try to bridge those small holes, but when the oil dries up or gets sucked away...the dirt and debris starts to get sucked into the engine.
+1 on AEM dry fly. I'm using one on my Supercharger, it gives me piece of mind since any/all oils go to my SC head unit first, then the intake. I have no want or need for any oils in that bad boy.
