Hey guys I have a 2008 IS250 6 speed manual and I just cant get my damn check engine light to go away. I have a HPS ram air intake on the car I put a K&N filter on it and I saw that the PVC hose was pinched real bad and wasnt getting any pressure out so I fixed that to. But my car is still showing a check engine light do I have to have the dealer come and reset it to fix it I am just assuming that it is the intake causing the problem the check engine light just came on randomly one day when I turned it on after work and the intake had been on the car for a 3 weeks. So any ideas what this might be I only have 7,000 miles on my car?!?!
ok I will do that as soon as I am done work never even thought of that. But when you tightened it back up did the check engine light go away or did you have the dealer reset the ECU?
there was another member on here few weeks ago if i rmb correctly me and kurts were talking to him too.. he also had a HPS intake.. those things are cheap for a reason .. shoulda spent and extra 100 bucks and got ur self a nice fujita or injen but to answer ur problem.. it might be the MAF
edit: could it be that all HPS intakes make the check engine light on ??

when it happened to mine it threw the CEL for about 30 minutes then turned off on its own.
Edit: But mine wasnt loose when I swapped intakes I forgot to reconnect it and started the car
Ok well I am going to check tonight if its the MAF my freind just text me and said his injen did the same thing to him and said it was just his maf being loose so hopefully thats it. Also one question what is CEL mean? sorry just never haerd that before.
Hye guys so I checked my AMF sensor and its plenty tight on there and the pcv line is free and not pinched in anyway but i still have CEL on? So I guess ill be going down to adavnaced auto afetr work and try and find out what is causing the check engine light. One more question though where do they plug the computer in on the car to check to see whast wrong i know that its inside the cra but exactly where at?
reset ur ECU urself... hold the trip reset button and start the car.. keep holding it.. 6 dashes will display and blink and go away one by one.. after all the dashes are gone.. let go of the reset button

Ok guys well I looked into it more and plain and simple I AM AN IDIOT!!!!! This is my first nice car that has all the light bells and whistle on it. So after looking into it more I realized that it wasnt a CEL it was TPMS system light I have never owned a car with this so when I saw a light saying check system I figred that its check engine light. So in the end I am an idiot and the HPS intake is a great buy for the price why pay 320.00 for a Injen K&N or Fujita when you can spend 100.00 on HPS put a 40.00 K&N filter on it and ready to go!!!!! 60% cheaper then all thr major brands you cant beat that. Oh and I compared my HPS intake side by side to my friends Injen and they are identical and I mean identical so all in all HPS turned out to be a great intake and im just an idiot!

Or you can spend $109 on a Joe Z pipe and retain the cold air box, instead of the hot-air intake you ended up with.

Joe Z is great to but to quiet for my taste and for alot of people on the forum it seems. I just wanted people to know there is a much cheaper alternative out there for people that want a true ram air intake. I am no way bashing on Injen or K&N just stating that there is a cheaper intake out there that is identical in matierials (beside the filter) only real difference is the 150-200 dollar name you buy.

Your intake isn't a "true ram air"
It's a short ram...otherwise known as a "hot air intake"
ram air is something else entirely, and nobody really makes one for the 2IS as it usually involves a functional hood-scoop.
Folks who want the Joe Z to be louder can always pop holes in the side of the airbox, that'll put it more on par with the F-sport soundwise...
But yeah if you just want loud and don't really care about performance any cheap cone on a tube will do no matter what brand name is on it.
